A bookmark is a deliberate decision you make. It represents something of value; curiosity, aspiration, research, or delayed action. You mark a place to come back to, or to continue on from. It creates order amongst chaos - you don’t need to search to find it again.
“To be continued… “… my father achieved much more than most people during his 76 years on earth, yet I feel that he died without completing everything that he wanted to. He may have needed 8 lifetimes to do it all, but perhaps even that wouldn’t have been enough.
When is it enough though?
This photograph is part of a larger body of work that I photographed in December 2025 of bookmarks in one of my father’s books. Taking these photographs helped me in my grief after losing him unexpectedly in July last year. I felt connected to him in some way.
