Probably the quickest way to explain what I actually do 😂

One minute I’m cuddling a newborn, the next I’m at a wedding, covering an event, 4wd out of locations, chasing kids around or getting way too excited over a product order 🙈

It’s chaotic, it’s never the same and I absolutely LOVE IT! 🤎

Pregnancy is such a weird time because you spend months waiting for your baby to get here, and then suddenly it’s nearly over 😅

And I know when you’re in it, you’re probably not thinking ‘god I’m going to miss being pregnant’😂

You’re uncomfortable
Nothing fits
Rolling over in bed is a whole event and you’re so ready to meet the little person who’s been kicking you in the ribs 🙈

But then they’re here….

And somehow you forget just how big your belly was

How they moved in there

How your partner would put their hand on your belly without even thinking about it

I think that’s why I love maternity photos so much more since becoming a mum myself. Not because pregnancy is always beautiful.

But because you don’t really realise how quickly it goes until you’re on the other side of it 🥹

It’s been a while since I’ve properly introduced myself around here, and there are quite a few new faces lately, so hiiii 👋🏼

I’m Nakita 🤎

Photographer, mum of two, Darwin born and raised, and somehow turning 30 in a couple of weeks… which I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about that 😂

I’ve been doing this for years now and while I could happily live without the admin, emails and ridiculous amount of time I spend staring at Lightroom editing, I really do love what I get to do 🥹

I love meeting a family for the first time and then seeing them come back. Photographing a belly, meeting that little baby, and then suddenly they’re running around at their next family session and I’m wondering how on earth that happened so quickly 😅

Being a mum myself has definitely shaped the way I photograph

I know getting everyone dressed and out the door can already feel like a mission. I know your kids probably won’t do exactly what you want them to do. And I know mums are usually the ones taking a million photos while somehow barely existing in any of them.

So let the kids be kids. You don’t need to spend your session worrying about what they’re doing or whether they’re “behaving”. That bit is mine to figure out ✨

Because my own two keep getting bigger no matter how much I’d quite like them to stop, and that’s probably why I care so much about giving you photos that actually feel like your family right now.

Anyway, that’s me 😂

And hopefully if you end up in front of my camera one day, you’ll feel like you already know me a little 🤎

I think sometimes we put way too much pressure on newborn photos….

Waiting until we feel a bit more human
Until we’ve lost some of the baby weight
Until we’ve worked out feeding
Until the house isn’t a s**t show
Until we’re not running on three hours sleep 😴

But, this is the bit I actually want you to remember.

Because you probably don’t feel like you look like yourself right now 🫶🏻

You don’t….

You’ve just had a baby! 🥹

But I can almost guarantee that when you look at these photos in a few years, you’re not going to be looking at your body or thinking about how tired you were.

You’re going to be looking at how tiny your baby was 😭

And that’s the stuff I want to give you.

Not perfect newborn photos.

Photos that take you straight back to when they still fit in your arms like this 🤎

This is what I mean when I say just be you and have fun 🤎

You don’t need to know what to do, where to put your hands or how to stand. You don’t need to spend the whole session looking at me and smiling.

Run down the sand hill
Laugh at each other
Stir each other up
Get covered in sand
Just hang out with the people you love 🫶🏻

I’ll guide you when you need it, and the rest we just let happen ✨

Because this is the stuff I want to photograph. You, actually being you 🥹

This year I’m keeping things really simple, warm and beautiful. Something that feels Christmassy without being over the top.

The concept image you’ve seen has been created using a real photograph of my studio space to show you exactly where I’m heading with this year’s set. The furniture has been ordered, decorations are here and now I just need to bring the whole thing to life!

In a couple of weeks, his little hands won’t peel anymore.
He won’t curl up like this.
He won’t fit so perfectly in your arms.

And you probably won’t even notice when those things disappear 🥺

That’s what newborn photos are for

Not because you need another photoshoot

Because right now you’re running on no sleep and soaking up every cuddle. You’re not thinking about the tiny things you’ll miss one day 🫶🏼
