Okay sooo… tiny little announcement 😌

I’ve decided to start offering mini sessions all year round 😅... Not because full sessions aren’t valuable, but because, like you, I'm a consumer and even when I think about scheduling and booking my own family photos, I have the same concerns and often fall down the rabbit hole that it's not a "realistic" option right now 🫠

Sometimes it comes down to budget.
Sometimes the kids are running on borrowed time before a meltdown 😅
Sometimes an hour-long session feels like too much mentally, physically, or logistically.

But that doesn’t mean we/you should have to miss out on having photos for whatever reason you want them...

So this felt like a really nice middle ground 🤍

She told me she wanted maternity photos and her partner said “yeah nah… only if I can bring the Harley and we do it at a brewery,” and honestly I didn’t even hesitate, I was like yep done, lock us in and let’s build the whole thing around that because that’s exactly how I want people showing up to their shoots 🏍

We ended up at , bike parked up, having a laugh about how this was definitely not what he pictured when he heard the words “maternity session,” and somewhere in between just hanging out and not overthinking it, it all fell into place in that really easy, natural way where nothing feels forced and no one’s trying too hard.

That’s the bit people don’t expect, because everyone comes in thinking it’s going to be awkward or staged or something they have to survive, but when it actually reflects you, your life, your relationship, it just works without all of the pressure sitting on it... And yeah, I’ll guide you, I’m not just standing there hoping for the best, but I’m also not here to turn you into some Pinterest version of yourselves either, the whole point is that it still feels like you at the end of it.

So if you’ve been trying to convince your partner to get in front of the camera and getting absolutely nowhere, maybe the answer isn’t pushing harder, maybe it’s meeting them halfway and letting it look a bit different.

Harley not required… but I’m not mad about it ⚡️

A different kind of Chin wag, and one i debated sharing, but here we are 👋🏼

I found it really helpful to watch and listen to others who shared their journey, and if I can inspire someone to advocate for themselves, then why the fck not 🤠🤷🏽‍♀️

I can't speak on behalf of Emma, but how many of us mama's rock up to a shoot, half in it 🙃 half thinking about the 47 other things we needed to do that day? 🤷🏽‍♀️

We didn't really "start" anything. No big set up, no "okay, stand here and do this" prompting ❌️ He just climbed straight into her, she laughed, and that was kinda it 🥹 the whole session unfolded from there.
.. And that, my ducklings, is usually how it goes when people stop trying to make it a photo shoot.

He was all over her like white on rice, grabbing her face, getting in way too close and doing that thing kids do when they're equal parts chaos and affection 🥰 ... and Emma just rolled with it. No pulling him off, no trying to reign it in, just letting him be exactly who he is right in the now ⚡️

Those are always the frames that stick with me after. Not because they're "perfect" but because they feel like something you can't really recreate if you tried 🙌🏽 its just them, as they are 👌🏽

I think that's why I still love doing this as much as I do. It never really feels like I'm creating anything, more like I'm just there catching it before it moves on.

Anyway... this one felt like them 🤍

I didn't expect to love my studio this much... but here we fkn are 🫣😍

It started as one of those "this will be handy" ideas and let's just see where it goes kinda things.. and while it's still a work in progress, I'm gonna say I'm onto a winner with this one 🎉🔥

There's something about having a space that is just calm. No rushing, no overthinking, no trying to make everything line up perfectly before you even walk in. You can just show up, be with your family, enjoy a hot bevvy ☕️ or a beer if you're that way inclined 🤠 and we ease into it from there.

I can preach over and over again, that your photos are not a performance or a grand production! But this space honestly forces you to sink into just being who you are... and if I'm being honest, Ive been leaning into that hard 🙌🏽 i genuinely rate authenticity my friends.

Also worth noting:
These sessions are a bit lighter on the wallet than my full packages due to the nature of the studio and room. I can work faster in a smaller space, allowing us flexibility to drag out the shoot as long as we need or get it over and done with pretty quick - choice is yours mate.

Anyway, I'm clearly obsessed and not even trying to hide it 🫠😍

I saw a post by Haylee Guiver - Body Positive Content Creator the other day about how, before everything became so transactional, people used to just… trade. You had something I needed, I had something you needed, and we made it work without money being the middle man 🫱🏼🫲🏼

And honestly, the older I get, the more I’m like… yeah nah, that makes way more sense than half the s*t we do now.
Because yeah, I’m a photographer, but I’m also a mum with a house, kids, and a never-ending list of things that either need doing, fixing, organising, or figuring out. And I know I’m not the only one out here trying to juggle all of it without losing the plot.

So here’s the deal…

If you’ve got a skill, a business, or something you offer that could genuinely help me or my family, and you’ve been wanting updated photos, let’s chat about a trade.
Could be something practical, something creative, or something I didn’t even realise I needed until you mention it. If it feels like a fair swap and makes sense for both of us, I’m all for it 🔥

This isn’t about undervaluing what I do, and it’s definitely not a “freebie” situation. It’s more of a “let’s stop overcomplicating things and just help each other out” kind of vibe.

I used to think I had to be the photographer for everyone 🫠 Like every enquiry felt like something I needed to squeeze myself into.... be a bit more this, tone that down, keep it safe, keep it palatable 🫣 and for a while, I did that, because you kind of think that's what you're supposed to do 🤦🏽‍♀️

Don't get me wrong, those galleries still mattered and those moments were still real... it just helped me to figure out what I'm mostly drawn to now.

Somewhere along the way, I started to notice a pattern in the galleries that actually hit me in the feels like a road train in the pilbara. It was never the perfectly styled, well behaved, pinterest looking vibes 🙅🏼‍♀️ it was the chaos!
The families who let their kids run wild and didn't apologise for it, the couples who forgot I was even there and just melted into each other, the mums who almost didn't book because they didn't feel ready or confident but said "fck it" and showed up anyway 🎉

That's the s**t I'm drawn to now. Not a specific aesthetic, not a "dream client" list, but a feeling ⚡️
People who aren't trying to perform for the camera, who aren't chasing perfect, who are happy to let things be a bit messy, loud and emotional... and trust that the magic is sitting right there in the middle of it.

If you see yourself in any of this, then yeah... you're probably exactly who I want to photograph 😘

They were already married when these were taken.

No timeline, no guests waiting, no pressure to show up and move on to the next thing... just them, and their kids. Five people, now with the same last name 🤍

A few days after they eloped, they put their wedding attire back on and met me for some bridal portraits in a session that felt exclusively them.

As an unmarried girly, I can imagine wedding days can feel like a bit of a blur at times. When I'm photographing my couples at their weddings, I always (ALWAYS) encourage time for the couple on their own, sitting somewhere cosy away from the people so they can soak it all in. The part of the day where they can exhale and it actually lands "holy fkn s**tballs, we're married!" Kinda energy 💍

I admit, society has led us to believe it's a little unconventional, but I think there's something pretty epic about moving in your own lane and taking a space for these moments.

If you're planning a wedding (or thinking about doing things a little differently), just know there's no 'one right way' to do it ✨️

⚡️You can have the big day.
⚡️You can run away and elope.
⚡️Or you can do both and give yourselves a moment to actually feel it.

For the longest time, I thought photos were always about cementing memories in time... but the wind got knocked out of me when I learnt that photography is all about the art of Noticing 🎤

It's noticing the way babies face relaxes when mama puzzles against her.

Noticing how Dad bursts with pride and the home he's built in these people.

Noticing the little sleep cues before the rest of the world picks up on it.

I feel like this is going to be another series. Let's see what we can notice tomorrow 😘
