This photo was taken on the Greek Island of Koufonitsii last year as part of a project I have started to kick forward these last few years. The colours are real and not doctored. A most beautiful part of the world.
By chance, it transpired that Keros, it’s partner island which lay only a couple of kilometres across a narrow strait (and seen in this photo) is widely considered to be the second most important island in the whole of the Cyclades… The most important island being Delos which is said to have been the birthplace of the Greek Gods Apollo and Artemis.
Keros is significant in its shape for starters, appearing to look like a pregnant woman lying down. But there is also a mystery that hasn’t to this day been solved. Buried in parts of Keros parts of marble figurines have been found which appear to have been buried by indigenous peoples as part of ancient rituals: other parts of those same figurines appearing to have been buried on other islands in the Cyclades.
Remarkably humanity still does not seem to know who carved these figurines and the nature of the rituals that saw these figurines placed on islands such as Keros. What seems certain is they were craved by indigenous peoples that were then wiped out/obliterated perhaps by invading empires.
I've started a new private Facebook Group called The White Rainbow Project - which can be found by the link in the comments below.
In it, I have started the process of interviewing spiritual leaders in some of the most remote places on our planet. And asking them why they think we are here on earth.
