One of the biggest misconceptions about wedding cakes?

That adding colour automatically makes them look busy.

In reality, it's all about balance.

For this design, I kept the tiers clean with a subtle vertical texture and allowed the flowers to become the focal point.

When the structure is simple, the flowers can shine without competing for attention.

It's a design approach I often recommend to couples who want something modern, elegant and full of personality.

If you're planning your wedding, remember this:

Some celebrations hold a special place in the heart, and creating this First Holy Communion cake for Zoe & Zarah was one of them. 🤍

From the soft ruffles to the personalised details, every element was thoughtfully chosen to honour such a meaningful milestone.

But my favourite detail has to be the handmade chalice. I absolutely loved how it turned out. Seeing it come together exactly as we envisioned made this cake feel even more special.

Because cake is never just cake.

It's part of the memories, the photographs, and the moments families will treasure for years to come.
