This is a very personal post from me. Trigger warning for anyone who either them selves or whose loved ones have gone through an horrific accident.
Most of you following my page with be from Perth, Western Australia like me. You may have seen news reports about a man who was critically injured on Thursday morning while delivering furniture to a home in Belmont. That man is my husband.
His left foot and part of his lower leg was severed at the scene when a car hit him from behind as he had just lowered the tail lift of the truck getting ready to unload the delivery. His leg was amputated to 15cm below the left knee, and as yet they have not been able to close his leg, so there is still a risk that they may have to amputate further. On top of this, he has sustained fractures to the back of his skull, causing a lot of swelling, bruising and some bleeding on his brain. On Friday part of the front of his skull was removed to ease the pressure on his brain and to allow room for the brain to swell to lessen the damage to his brain. The front of his brain has sustained the most injury. He is currently in an induced coma in ICU at Royal Perth Hospital.
This is a very hard time for our family, and those who love him. My best friend has started a GoFundMe to help our family, and one of the teachers from my sons’ school has created a meal train to help our family with meals during this tough time. I will include links to both, but please don’t feel obligated to take part if you can’t or don’t want to. I have had such incredible support from family, friends, people I know and complete strangers already, which I am so grateful for.
What does this mean for my business? Not much change as it’s been very slow for me the last 6-12 months anyhow. If you enquire about booking in and I’m not available, for that I am sorry. If am able to take your booking, please understand that the initial timeline of completion of your gallery may be effected, however creating memories for families is something I do love doing and will be a very welcome distraction to the chaos at the moment, for lack of better words that escape me right now.
We will have a very very long and emotional journey ahead of us.
