They didn’t just book family photos.

They created a tradition.

Four years ago, I photographed their family for the first time.

Since then, we’ve captured four chapters of their story, delivered four albums, and their fifth session is already just around the corner.

Watching these boys sit together and look through their album reminded me why I believe so deeply in printed photographs.

Because one day, these albums won’t be something Mum and Dad treasure.

They’ll be the way these boys remember their childhood.

The little moments.

The cuddles.

The laughter.

The people who loved them most.

Hands up the Perth mums who make sure every little moment is captured... 🙋‍♀️

But the second someone points the camera at you it’s...

“Oh no, I haven’t done my makeup.”

“Not today.”

“I’ll get in the next one.”

Or every other excuse under the sun. 🙈

Trust me... I’m guilty of it too.

But after almost 20 years of photographing families, I’ve learnt something.

The person trying the hardest to avoid the camera is usually the one who needs to be in the photos the most.

Not for Instagram.

Not because you look perfect.

But because one day your children won’t be looking at your makeup, your hair or what you were wearing.

They’ll just be looking for Mum. 🤍

🥇 Coogee Beach – Beautiful dunes, soft light and so much variety in one location.

🥈 Woodman Point – Huge sand dunes, loads of space and perfect if you love a quieter beach.

🥉 Leighton Beach – Gorgeous clean shoreline with incredible sunsets and room for the kids to run.

The truth is, there isn’t one “perfect” location.

The best location is the one that suits your family. Whether you’ve got toddlers who never stop moving, teenagers who’d rather be anywhere else, or a dog that absolutely has to come along, I’ll help you choose somewhere that works.

The reel is a joke... but the message isn’t. 😉

Digital files are wonderful.

But they’re also really easy to forget about.

A few weeks ago I was chatting to an expecting mum and she said,

“I can’t even remember where the digital files are.”

That sentence is exactly why I’ll always believe your favourite photographs deserve to be printed.

Albums get pulled off shelves.
Frames become part of your home.
Your children grow up seeing themselves loved every single day.

Digital files are for sharing.

Printed photographs are for living with.

I’m a photographer…

And honestly?

I’m still not in as many photos with my own boys as I’d like.

I’m usually the one grabbing my camera or my phone because I don’t want to miss the moment.

(And no… selfies don’t count. 😂)

That’s exactly why this is my one non-negotiable.

The family photographer has to hand over the camera.

Because one day, your children won’t be looking for perfect photos.

They’ll be looking for you.

This... this is where the magic is. 🤍

Printed photographs.

Every single time I unwrap an album, I still get that same feeling.

I take a deep breath.

I smile.

And I quietly think...

“Oh... hello.”

It’s hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it.

The photographs somehow come alive.

They’re no longer something you swipe past on your phone or forget in a folder on your computer.

They’re real.

You can hold them.

Turn the pages.

Pass them to your children.

Leave them on the coffee table for little hands to discover.

As a Perth family photographer, I’ve watched hundreds of families experience this moment, and it never gets old.

It’s why I’ll always believe your family photos deserve more than a screen.

Because the real magic doesn’t happen when I press the shutter.

It happens right here... when your memories become part of your home and your children can hold their own story in their hands.

And honestly...
