Driving back from Goomalling on Saturday, I was hoping to make it to a particular spot for sunset. As usual, my timing was a little off.

But sometimes missing the shot you planned leads you to one you never expected.

These gum trees on the hillside had caught the last of the setting sun, and for just a few fleeting moments they glowed a deep, fiery red. Not autumn colours, not red gums—just ordinary trees transformed by extraordinary light. Today they’d look completely unremarkable, but in that moment they were on fire.

With the fresh green canola beginning to emerge beneath them, the contrast was simply beautiful.

Needless to say, I had to pull over.

An amazing sunny day today out near Goomaling, the canola is staring to bloom too!

When I got home I realised I’d been spring from 12pm to 6pm with no music 🎧

Guess I needed some stillness 💛
