Great event photography starts well before the first photo is taken.

In this part of our ‘Debunking Myths About Event Photography’ series, we’re looking at pre-production: the run sheets, schedules, key people, priority moments and the details that help everything come together on the day.

Because while our photographers are very good at thinking on their feet, knowing what matters to our clients before the event means we can be in the right place, at the right time, ready for the moments that can’t be repeated.

Back with the P&N team for the third year running, capturing their annual staff awards dinner.

With live crosses happening throughout the evening and the event being streamed to the east coast, our job was to stay across the action without getting in the way — capturing the big moments, genuine reactions and all the energy in the room.

Having worked with the team before also meant we could hit the ground running, knowing the style and consistency they expect from their event coverage.

Last week, The Scene Team was on the ground across two days of the Careers & Employment Expo, helping the event organiser build a strong promotional image library.

Our team captured the full scale of the expo, including the event setup, sponsor presence, major displays, crowd attendance, activities and live demonstrations.

The result was a broad and engaging collection of imagery designed to support sponsor reporting, future event promotion, marketing campaigns and ongoing communications.

For an event of this size, our role is not simply to photograph what happens. It is to understand what the organiser needs the images to achieve.
