I've had so many new sessions in the past few weeks and just no time to share them, but with my biggest boy's birthday looming I felt compelled to share a snippet from this recent session.

Your kids are really never too old to document. I've said it once and I'll say it again... You will never regret the photos you take, only the ones you didn't.

And if you're not booking a photoshoot because you don't like to be in them, remember that those photos are not just for you😉.

After wrapping up recent family session, the Mum said something that has really stayed with me.

She told me she was extremely anxious about paying to have photos done as none of them had any idea what to do. She wasn’t expecting how much I’d guide them and adjust them, moving them into the “right light”, telling them what to do with their hands and creating a fun environment that drew out the moments that really felt like them.

She coyly admitted to being one of the, “our phones take such good photos these days” folk, but after seeing the care and intention behind every frame, she said she really understood the difference.

It wasn’t about the camera.
It was about being present enough to see what’s still there!
The way her adult children slipped into a familiar closeness they hadn’t shared for years and the way her oldest son, now towering over her, still fit in her arms… just differently.

Phones capture moments but intention… connection… the kind of emotion you can feel long after the moment is gone… that’s crafted.

I drove home that day with a full heart and was once again reminded of why I do what I do.
