Another collection of photos added to the memory vault for this little family who are my most loyal clients.
I've had this business for 16 years and I've photographed these guys 9 or 10 times, every year in the same location and every year I'm reminded of how fast each 12 months has passed between when it always feels like just last week I saw them. It makes me wonder what I've done in the last year.
Our children growing up is so bittersweet and some days when I'm looking back on my 'on this day' I miss my own kids as babies, as toddlers, their cute little voices and I watch their videos wishing they were little again. Then I remember that watching them grow into young adults, be independent and the back and forward banter between us is some of the best and most beautiful moments I'll remember and hold on to when I'm old.
We love watching them achieve milestones yet we wish for hard phases to disappear quickly.
We want to hold them tight, but we want them to be independent so we can enjoy a coffee in quiet.
We want to read them bedtime stories but we don't realise when it's the last story we will read to them before they want to do it on their own.
Their little cuddles turn into big bear hugs when they tower over you.
Their singing in the car to 'We're Going On a Bear Hunt' turns into them begging you to stop singing when you just want to rave in the car with all the wrong lyrics 😜
Their early morning wake ups turn into the quietest part of your day, wishing they were awake so you could just chat.
Whether it's a difficult stage or an incredible one you want to hold on to forever, it's always going to pass by, either in the blink of an eye or a little longer but truth is, none of these moments will last for eternity so take deep breaths through the tough times, remember that there will be sunnier times soon I promise and all the hard moments when you didn't think you could make it will one day be a blurry memory 💓
