My sisters hens… it was cheese, books and w**e. Basically the dream.

As I took my “fun” camera (which is also new to me) … and I am definitely not all over the low light capabilities or limitations rather of the Fuji x100vi just yet but am very pleased with the promist 1/4 filter on the evening light. Also I anyone knows the setting for being able to see through the Fuji when in very low light with a flash attached please enlighten me - I basically had to guess and shoot any of the dinner images blind 🤪 using a little godox it32 flash.

When you hold your lens it’s helpful to hold your hand under the barrel to support it, thumb up not thumb down 👍🏻 (U shape not C) - this helps stabilise everything - here I’m also using my knee to brace. I also don’t know if all photographers squat a lot but I do. Another reason I’ve had to join a gym 🤪 it’s not as easy as it used to be.

If my couch could talk it’d probably be pi**ed at disregard of plates left underneath… but it likes family games, rolls its eyes when the dog claims the three seater in its entirety and enjoys the regular spots of its people.

Book week - Queen of Hearts ♥️ (usually I let the girls fend for themselves but assisted a bit more this time as library captain and final bookweek)

Opshop red dress and shoes
Giant cards also from opshop $1 👌🏻- stapled to ribbon which we then safety pinned to the bottom of the dress. Also stapled to elastic for crown.

Throw blanket that I found on bargain table at Spotlight (just with a safety pin) for the cloak.

White tights. (Did have to buy these)

Necklace that Céleste made from some card charms she happened to have.

Gem staff thing that my dad made Céleste a few years back.

And then blue eyeshadow, hearts drawn on with eyeliner and red lipstick in a heart shape.

I did get very lucky with the opshop dress find (it was also quite cheap) but really this is quite a simple costume. (Not as easy as Maggie’s which was just overalls and jumper 😅)

Babies being babies!

Unsettled babies during newborn sessions do not phase me. We are there to document life as it is and sometimes the reality of newborn photos isn’t sleepy perfection. I have many tricks and ways of photographing babies - being held, being fed, being settled. Eyes open, eyes shut. The calm and snuggly, the peaceful and the not so much. Your photos will still be beautiful.

The brief was awkward photos… and a whole lotta fun. (And for self professed awkward people in photos - they really weren’t - except when they needed to be)
Their reception was a great big party with an excess of DIY from these creative souls, hand illustrated playing cards (each one different), pub trivia, arcade machines and lots of colour!
