πŸ“ Twelve Apostles (westerly aspect), Eastern Maar Country

An amazing location, with an amazing person, helped to re-ignite the desire to capture amazing memories.

Completed in 1932, the Great Ocean Road was built as a memorial to Victoria's First World War servicemen and women, and it serves as a lasting reminder of their war service and sacrifice. Between 1919 and its completion, more than 3000 returned servicemen worked on the construction of the Great Ocean Roadβ€”an enormous undertaking often conducted under very difficult living and working conditions.

On 28 March 2023, at Logan’s Beach in Warrnambool, a ceremonial hearing of the Federal Court was held to recognise Eastern Maar native title rights across south-west Victoria, including much of the coastline of the Great Ocean Road and part of the Great Otway National Park

πŸ“ Looking towards Mt Mitchell, Scenic Rim Qld

After 6 hours traipsing around Lamington National Park - Elabana and Chalahn Falls, I didn't have enough time to make the walk down to Moran's Falls, but I knew I'd be able to find something on the way down the mountain.

Part way down I remembered there was a lookout with a stunning view at a fork further along. I raced for it (as much as you can on those roads) and made it with about 15 minutes before this incredible colour suffused the sky.

I've always wanted to try our a compressed shot of mountain ranges and the after didn't disappoint!

What's next on your shot bucket list? Let me know down below!

πŸ“ South Ferry/Whitehall Street subway station, New York

Unfortunately, I mis-planned a boat trip out to the Statue of Liberty on the morning of this shot - meaning there were no tickets on our last day in NYC, so on my return to my wife to re-plan our day, I thought I'd have some fun along the way.

This is the first shot I've had a chance to edit my with my new Wacom tablet, so if you'd like to see a before and after, check out my stories to see how far this came.

As always, love to hear your thoughts!

πŸ“ Mt Coonoorwin, Glasshouse Mountains

The easing off of the pressure at the end of last year never happened. The whole year was full of planning our amazing wedding - I wanna do it all over again so I can enjoy it!; planning and going on our busy-busy honeymoon - we loved it, but damn it's exhausting; and then finding a new place to live, and packing and moving.

But, what that means is that 2019 is *touch wood* a year that will not have huge planning exercises and life goals.

That means more time for good stuff, one of which is my photography.

Can't wait to see what the last half of this year has in store!

Our first full day in NYC was cloudy and rainy, but that didn't stop us getting out and about!

I camped this spot for about 5 minutes with my beautiful wife, both of us patiently waiting for a New Yorker standing in the archway. Could've worked if they stood centred, but they didn't!

Many more to come from our adventures over the past month - I'm definitely enjoy looking through them!

πŸ“ Lower Johnston Falls, Banff National Park

As you can tell from my feed I have a thing for waterfalls and this is partly what dictated some of our stops along the Icefields Parkway.

A 30 minute walk through gorgeous Johnston Canyon brings you to the Lower Falls shown here. It took 5 minutes of waiting and a stooped walk through a 5 metre long tunnel to find a different, closer vantage of the falls.

Still can't get over the colour of the water over here. It's unreal!

Stockton Street tunnel, San Fransisco

The one thing about travelling that's tough - not having time to edit the photos! Every moment over here is filled with doing something - it is another country after all, so the idea is to absorb everything for the few short weeks we're here.

However... I was so happy after my little solo mission out into San Fran on one of our first nights that I made time to get to this one.

As soon as I saw the tunnel, I knew there was a light trail composition to be had!
It was already 10pm and I knew I needed to be up at 3.30am to get our early flight to Vancouver, but when the first shot came through it looked exactly like I wanted, so the dread of little sleep disappeared.

Because it was so 'late' this is a stacked shot of around 20 images capturing a few buses, cars and taxis - otherwise it would've looked quite sad.

Hope you like, let me know what you think!

Taken in early July at 6.43am. I love winter sunrises because it means I can get to the Coasts for some awesome sea action, without getting up at what seems like midnight!

A fun, if chilly night out at Southbank in mid-August for the Australian Photography Magazine instameet. With absolutely no cloud to speak of, it required a bit of departure from my usual style.

Thanks to Shipwreck Photography for the inspo around how to use negative space for a slightly different capture of the Wheel.

One from the archives...

After just missing the sunset colours one afternoon back in January, I turned away from the sun towards the building to get some of blue hour.

I could and did spend hours just walking along the river looking for different angles to shoot. There's always something interesting to see!

πŸ“ Shelley Beach, Sunshine Coast

On Monday morning, armed with a new waterproof tripod - W-1204 from Sirui Australia - courtesy of Jacques VA Photography - I headed up the Coast for some early morning fun.

I've been trying to catch a decent seascape for over a month now - including all the 3.30am starts to get out of Brisbane up the Sunshine Coast (it's closer than the Goldy).

Couldn't find any comps among the rocks, so thought I'd head up the beach to try some panning along the way until I got the headland just before Moffat.

5 minutes in and I came across these rocks with the waves crashing over them and just training away. PERFECT for a bit of a longer exposure.

Pretty damn happy with the result.

What's your fave place to shoot the sea?
