Reimagined Images Photography

For those that know me by artistic "hat" and somehow landed here under my commercial photography "hat", I have just started sharing a fresh series on my art insta feed.

The series is called "Echoes Of Emotions Past", it is a collection that formed from the feelings that lingered from moments passed.

They come from old emotions, layered memories, hidden parts of self, and the strange way the past can still sit close to the surface of us all. I explored layers with faces, flowers, texture, distortion and fragments because that is how memory often feels to me — not neat, not linear, but patched together in flashes.

Strolling the local regional gallery is always a little guilty pleasure, getting to capture images for a blog while there make the whole thing even better.

This one is another little throwback, Iv been having so much fun going through images that have not seen the grid before - so, so many just waiting for me to "expose" to you all - get it, a little photo processing humour there ;)

Some say dont work with kids, animals or artists!

Well I love working with artists - I am one, so we work on similar wavelengths. As co-owner of Sunset Framing & Gallery with my Tall Dark and Handsome hubby Scott I have had the pleasure to meet many local artists.

Over the years Iv had many ocassions to capture their art, heir stories and spaces and it is always a buzz to see them in their studios.

One of the firsts artists I had the pleasure to connect with in my roll at the gallery was Yvonne Kiely, we connected via market stalls and art, gallery space and more art. To say I am a bit of a collector of her works is true, there is at least 3 pieces hanging at home and several prints in my collection at my own studio, she is always an inspiration.

Perspective is an interesting and I think fun part of photography.

Perspective can be the way you physically position yourself to take the photo, it can also be then way in which you approach the photo, personally I enjoy using both of those processes.

The most important perspective of all is the one your client wants their clients to see and feel the image from, from there all else flows.

The exhibition of images created by my guests at the "Seeing Life In Colour" Seniors Festival class, this showcase was at the Port Macquarie Hastings Library Service

One of the things that I love seeing is the moment that the concept clicks, the teaching has a moment to be integrated, before that moment it feels a little like chaos and a-lot like the energy you get if you dropped a bunch of kindergarten kids off to a chocolate shop. Its excited and high, buzzing with the need to see, do and taste it all.

During my mindful photography sessions and my signature "Seeing Life In Colour" class that is an allowance of that energy and then through a designed moment I guide my guests into a calm seeing space and that is when the whole energy and output changes and it honestly makes my heart explode to see.

During March I had the pleasure of facilitating a class designed around being mindful through the medium of photography, thanks to it was ran as part of the Seniors Festival and we had an absolute blast. I have had several of my guests drop in or call and tell me they are still "seeing" the world around them differently and it blows my socks to think how this class has given them something they can use daily, not just in a photographic sense but in life, it is such a privilege to be part of.

What a week it has been!

The highlight was being able to catch up with some of the amazing women in business at last weeks at .
We got to hear from Skye at speak of the importance of creativity in the workforce and workplace, it was a fun and engaging event, the exercises Skye had us doing certainly gave pause for thought and I know that I walked away with a challenge for myself to implement in my workspaces.

Big thanks to sponsor the mags you gave to everyone are beautiful and may have already distracted me more than once.

Big thanks to all the gals at HBWN for putting together another fantastic event, great spot, great food, great company and plenty was learned from speaker Skye.

Hello everyone and happy 2026!

Its been a bit since I dropped into your feeds, first there was the Christmas break and then I have been deep in the digital darkroom working on photo and slide scanning, plus restorations of old photos.

The preservation of photos is a bit of a passion for me and I took on a few HUGE jobs just before Christmas.

Now I can't say what sport exactly or who for privacy reasons however I can say that one of the jobs relates to sporting history, an absolute icon and it is an album filled with that persons story, news paper clippings, rare original photos and moments of their sporting journey.

I am now a total fan (first time sports hero fan) and if anyone knows my Father or in particular my Grandfather, they will have a small window as to what that sport might be ;)

Being that I can't show you anything from that job here is a resto I did to a glass mounted photo a few years ago.

Hope to be dropping into your feed a bit more now that the heaviest weight of that job is now done (now its the finer dance of restoring all the damage and cleaning it up). ~ Cherie
