I went back out today in the early afternoon to check out the bodyboarding competition in Port Macquarie again, as it was late in the day yesterday when I arrived.

These were my favourite shots, taken with my Canon R5 II and 100-500mm

Great atmosphere, lots of action and heaps of friendly people around cheering them on. A beautiful winters day in Port Macquarie watching the Teams Challenge.

A quick shift from bodyboarding over to surfing, these talented surfers were at Flynns Beach yesterday, here's three of my favourite shots. Awesome to sit and watch.

Port Macquarie Teams Challenge, featuring clubs from around Australia, the claim the best bodyboarding club in the nation.

I was only able to get to Town Beach for a quick look, but the skills and passion these guys and girls have on their boards is so impressive. I sat on the end of the break wall and captured a few shots, the surf probably not quite as big as they'd have liked, but there were a few sets here and there some of the riders were able to get on and have a go. Well done everyone out representing their club!

If you've been a follower of my page for a little while you'd know that in May I decided I'd head up early (3am) to catch sunrise at Walcha - a 3 hour drive away up the mountains from Port Macquarie.

One of the reasons I went was that there was a competition run by Walcha Tourism to promote their beautiful town by inviting people up to take photos, share them and enter a competition to win a prize.

Well, I got some awesome news yesterday, I was the winner! I took the call from the Walcha Office unfortunately at the same moment I was reading a post about my late Nanna, and in tears I embarrassing accepted and thanked them very much.

A bitter sweet moment because I put a lot into that trip, I tried really hard and in a moment I felt down, I found out I'd won, it tipped me over the edge, but I was also so happy.

Thank you Walcha Tourism, I can't wait to visit your lovely town again!

Note, only the first photo is mine, the others were by other talented photographers. My full set of photos from the day can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/share/18tqxsx5Dh/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Art Walk, Port Macquarie 2026

Amidst the crowds this evening, so many talented individuals showcased their art in diverse forms. I was captivated by the sounds, aromas and the warm smiles on so many faces. It was so nice to see everyone outside enjoying the company of others.

Here's a few shots I took from tonight whilst I was in town, all taken on Canon ANZ’s new R6 MKIII with their amazing 45mm F1.2 RF lens

I wanted to dedicate this post to my Nanna. She was the most beautiful, loving and caring person who unfortunately passed away yesterday, and who will be terribly missed. I headed out to capture the last sunset of her life and it turned out so beautiful, just as she was.

So here's my favourite photo from yesterday - beautiful light over the house of light - the Tacking Point Lighthouse, Port Macquarie

There's just something I find very relaxing about stopping to take in moments like this one. That sound of the creek flowing down, around and over boulders, making its way downstream.

This photo, captured during our trek upstream last week.

Upstream, past the slippery rocks and the quiet bends in the creek, this little pocket of forest opens up like a secret. The pool, the cool air, the giant boulder perched impossibly above it, all shaped by the rain that’s been pushed through recently.

We’d been here before but today the water flowed more impressively and the lighting was better making the whole place feel much more special.
