Urban Exploration Unlimited

Urban Exploration Unlimited Urban Exploration (often referred to as Urbex) is the exploration of abandoned man made structures, often off limits to the general public.

During our expeditions we take into account dangers and safety protocols that must be considered - we do not break into any locations and we refrain from vandalism. The motto of urbex is "Take only photos, leave only footprints", and we follow this. Feel free to send in your photos and we may be able to share them on this page. Let us know of any locations that you are aware of and we may be able to exchange some locations with you!

Abandoned Saleyard #1

A small saleyard sitting vacant and decaying in a small country town of rural Victoria. Previously, this site appears to have been used for the sorting and selling of sheep, but now acts as a reminder of the past and serves a site for the local youths to hang out and witness the rapidity with which nature can reclaim the land.

Abandoned Boat #1

An old abandoned boat sitting banked along the Murray River at the boarder of Victoria and New South Wales. It appears as though people still utilise this boat from time to time as a location to go fishing, however the decaying nature of the old mostly forgotten girl can still be appreciated as she becomes lost to time hidden along the banks behind trees.

This haunting and decrepit old hospital has sat abandoned for many years, seeing many explorers, ghost hunters, vandals and arsonists come through its decaying doors.

Originally opening in 1876 it functioned as a hospital within the regional town until 1974, after which time it served as an aged care facility and finally completely closed down in 1997.

Since this time one can see the manner in which nature and wildlife has taken over, providing a very post-apocolyptic feel to the decomposing site.

Access: Readily available through holes in the fence-line.
Security: N/A
Dangers: Debris, tripping hazards and potential risk of falls (e.g. holes in floor) +/- Salty 12 year olds.

Originally built in 1873 to protect Victoria's goldfields, Fort Nepean was involved in both World Wars in conjunction with Fort Queenscliff to protect the entrance to Port Phillip at the Southern end of Australia. The first Australian shots, and potentially first Allied shots of both WWI and WWII were fired from Fort Nepean. In 1988 Fort Nepean was opened to the public as part of the Point Nepean National Park, and currently stands as a reminder of Australia's military history and is a fantastic place to explore.

Point Nepean is also the location that former Australian Prime Minister Harold Holt went missing in 1967.

This dilapidated mess sits right alongside a train station of a Melbourne suburb. For years it has sat in a state of decay and was lit ablaze in 2016. Today it is boarded up and pitch black on the inside, littered with a vast degree of rubbish, charred remains and wire hanging from the ceilings. Remnants of it's day as an AMF bowling alley can still be seen scattered throughout, but sadly the lanes have been destroyed and ultimately this site is difficult to now recognize as a former bowling alley.
Security: N/A
Access: Multiple easy points of entry
Dangers: Rubbish, debris, broken glass, damaged floors and ceilings, possible syringes and drug addicts.
