Evan Sycamnias Photography

Evan Sycamnias Photography Welcome to my digital world. Let the pixels burn…

In a world of 9 to 5, chained to a desk and having all forms of creativity drained out of you, it is emancipating to venture out in the middle of the night, to crawl through pathways of urban sprawl, searching for bastions of hope, in the form of shapes, colours and textures to set the mind ablaze and spirit free.

A few years ago I was asked about my preferred batteries for camera flash units – which to be honest, at the time I hadn’t really given much thought to, I just utilised whatever was on hand. But as time went on and my reliance on flash units increased, I began to notice an increasing number of u...

RONE Exhibit Close Up.

‘Decomposition 004 - The Submerged Armchair’
Empire – Rone, Burnham Beeches, Victoria, Australia
Set amongst the decaying glory of a once-magnificent manor Burnham Beeches, in Melbourne’s Dandenong Ranges, RONE has once again dazzled audiences with his amazing artwork.

Rone (whose full name is Tyrone Wright) is a street artist (possibly Australia’s most commercially successful street artist) best known for his haunting, stylised images of women’s faces, he understands better than most that beauty can be fleeting. Seeing his artworks gradually worn away by natural and human elements has taught him to appreciate the unexpected beauty of an image as it begins to blend back into its more prosaic surroundings.

He has gone from spearheading Melbourne’s fledgling street art movement in the early 2000s, as a member of the Everfresh crew, to being a celebrated fixture on the international street art scene. An inveterate traveller, his distinctive female muses have followed him around the world, and can be found – in various states of decay – peering out from beneath overpasses and emblazoned on walls everywhere from New York to New Zealand and many places in between.
