As a naturalist and an artist, sometimes my two worlds run separately, and sometimes they beautifully overlap.

Processes like cyanotypes feel like a meeting point between the two, using sunlight and a mixture of materials to create images inspired by the living world.

This Sunday at the Banyule Eco Festival I’ll be running complimentary cyanotype workshops, where you can come along and learn the process and create your own botanical sun print.

While preparing for the festival I’ve also been experimenting with anthotypes, a completely natural printing process made using pigments and sunlight which I’ll also be adding into the workshop on the day.

Currently travelling along the Mekong River from Vietnam to Cambodia and reflecting on some pretty special milestones along my artistic journey.

Last year I had the incredible opportunity to work as an Assistant Curator with through the Gold Coast Arts & Culture Professional Placement Program, supported by and . I’m very grateful to have been part of such an incredible family of people bringing so much to the Gold Coast community.

Over the past few years I’ve been really exploring my place as an artist, and this opportunity allowed me to step into the curatorial space, working alongside more than 80 extraordinary artists from across Australia and internationally. Being part of the curatorial process and the SWELL family was an experience that challenged me, inspired me, and helped me grow both creatively and professionally.

Programs like this are so important for supporting early and mid-career artists and creative workers. They open doors that often simply don’t exist — let alone get opened.

Applications for the 2026 Professional Placement Program are now open, with 11 placements available across a range of artforms, working alongside some of the Gold Coast’s most respected arts organisations. If you’re a creative looking to gain professional industry experience, I can’t recommend this program highly enough.

Applications close Monday 23 February at midnight.
