Well this is where it all started. 💕

16 years ago a friend recommended a Montessori school for my 3 years old. I wasn't familar with the teaching philosophy but after attended the first day of orientation I was completely sold. Montessori education fosters the love of learning and curiousity in both of my children, not just academically but in many areas of life.

The concentration on the children faces when they are working on tasks inspired my love in photography as I captured these fleeting moments, it later became a deciding factor to transition my focus in children portraiture.

As I returned to the centre this year for the yearly session, I was grateful to spend some time with the directress, the admin manager and an educator who all played a monumental role in my children's childhood all these years ago ❤

Me: Hey lovely! Your mummy has asked me to take some beautiful photos of you so we can send them to her, are you ready?
Ms A: Yes! And I have a lipgloss!
Me: Oh cool!
Ms A with increasing excitement: I have a lipgloss!
Me: Oookayyyy, would you like to put it on for photos?
Ms A: YES! (while skip hopping to her bag inside)

The educator and I looked at each other and bursted out laughing 😂 I just love how innocent, truthful, authentic and expressive children are. 🥰 ❤ 💕

Drizzly Melbourne weather with rain on and off, with the help of all the wonderful educators and the manager we managed another year of wonderful session! ❤

Back to this centre over 1.5 weeks ago! 💕

As always loved seeing all the educators and the little faces, there's a level of warmth and connection after a few years, even though we only see each once a year. I felt at ease and at home. ❤

Delighted to photograph this centre around a week and a half ago.

This is probably the centre with the most children where I photographed them since they were babies. Some have older siblings that have started primary school, and some with now younger siblings. There's a sense of special connection. 💕

Typical Melbourne winter with drizzles on and off, we made it work with the coordination of amazing educators, centre and assistant managers. 🥰

Back to this centre for the third year just under a couple of weeks ago 💕 It was rainy most of the time so lots of extra planning, flexibility and coordination from the centre which I am grateful for.

The educators were amazing at freeing up the area undercover so we can get some lovely natural light for the images. We also utilised periodic sunshine and clouds so the little ones can be photographed in play and action. ❤

I had a really nice break with family during school holiday and was so glad to be returning to this centre for the new term. So good to be seeing familar faces, both educators and children and was particularily blessed with gorgeous weather!

I photographed an amazing 2 year old who was extremely keen to have her session and listened to my suggestion extremely well. I was beyond impresssed ❤ Educators were super accommodating and organised 💕

My second centre in a week with this privately owned kindergarten. I was pleasantly surprised all the children already knew my name and started to address me as soon as I walked through the door. To put it in context my name is kinda tricky to pronounce and hard to remember 😱 ❤

A 4 year old that I have been photographed in the last 3 years greeted me by name and said "Eetane, I remember you took my photos last year", then all her friends were like "Eetane can you also take my pictures?" I was swarmed with love and attention for sure. 😄🥰

I had a great time photographing the children and love working with the educators as they are very supportive and helpful. ❤

This is one of the 2 centres that I photographed in the space of the week. Both are family owned so very different feel to other centres. Educators were flexible and super accommodating 💕

As we kept to the children routine I was able to spend a bit more time with each child ❤ There are some new equipment added to the yard since last year, I absolutely love the new pirate ship, kids had so much going on adventures, looking for mermaids and dolphins in the ocean and tried to spot me in the binoculars 😆

First time photographing this centre just over a week ago. 💕

I had actually photographed this centre before when it was under a different management, so it was lovely to be back. As I chatted with one of the educators she told me she remembered me from a few years back as I was the only photographer that she met where kids were at ease and happy during photo week. Relaxed children = Relaxed educators ❤️

Highlight - I photographed the cutest and most intelligent 2 year old! She was AMAZING at listening and interacting it totally blew my mind! 🥰
