As I participate in The Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb, I will proudly wear the name of New York City Fire Department Firefighter Jeffrey J. Giordano on my race bib, in remembrance of his sacrifice on September 11th, 2001.
Firefighter Giordano was a highly decorated firefighter with Ladder Company 3 in Lower Manhattan. Known for his unwavering dedication, His career was marked by bravery and a commitment to excellence. He was honored with numerous awards, including the Albert Johnson Award for rescuing two people from a blazing building, and was a strong advocate for firefighter causes, raising funds for the New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation.
On the morning of 9/11, Jeff responded to the World Trade Center attacks. His courage and devotion to saving lives in the face of unimaginable danger were a testament to his strong morals and his unwavering commitment to his community. Though he perished in the line of duty, his memory lives on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness and compassion.
The Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb is an opportunity to honor his legacy and the sacrifice of the 343 firefighters who gave everything to save others on that fateful day.
