As an Aboriginal Woman, I never walk alone.

Many of the women who forged the untrodden path, sat at tables meant only for predominantly white men, and yet they carried our culture and our legacy with pride, courage, and reverence - all while living their lives under government policies that tried to control, silence, and erase them.

Today, on International Women’s Day, I’m thinking about the women who made my footsteps possible.

My grandmothers - who carried knowledge in strength and pride.
My Aunties - who supported a community of matriarchal relational connections.
My best friend - whose spirit still walks beside me even though she is no longer here.
My daughters - who are the continuation of everything that came before them.

Aboriginal women have always been storytellers, knowledge holders, protectors, and fighters. We have endured policies, prejudice, and power structures that were never built for us, and yet we are still here.

Still standing.
Still speaking.
Still carrying culture.
Still loving fiercely.

I walk forward because they walked before me. And the next generation will walk further because we refused to stop.

Today on International Women’s Day, I honour the women behind me, beside me, and ahead of me.

They are all incredible, inspiring women who I am so proud and blessed to have as family 💛

The nerves were REAL at this morning’s exhibition Opening - 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘦 - where my latest artistic photography works, capturing the Australian South Sea Islander United Council (Rockhampton) local perspectives iteration, was launched.

𝘊𝘈𝘕𝘌 | 28 February - 21 June 2026
Rockhampton Muesum of Art

‘𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘦 explores the history of indentured South Sea Islander workers in the Queensland sugarcane industry. This exhibition brings together personal accounts with contemporary artworks from local, national and international artists including Shivanjani Lal, Dylan Mooney, Shari O’Dywer, Sancintya Mohini Simpson, Jasmine Togo-Brisby, Luis Vasquez La Roche and Jon Vea Vea.

Bringing local stories into dialogue with international perspectives, this exhibition makes connections between agricultural and labour practices across colonies of the British Empire in the 19th century. Through a process of truth-telling and creative exchange, 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘦 celebrates the enduring spirit and cultural legacy of Australian South Sea Islanders in the Fraser Coast.’

Curated by Llewellyn Millhouse with Keely Eggmolesse.
𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘦 is a Hervey Bay Regional Gallery exhibition.

First post for 2026 🎉

I hope you had a beautiful festive season with fam and friends, and I just wanted to pop in with a reminder that we won’t be officially back in the Studio until Jan 19th 😘

(Still working hard to train a rambunctious little fur baby and get some reading and preparedness done to complete my Graduate Certificate of Reseach so I can get stuck into my photographic PhD planning).

To my lovely clients and incredible community, hoping you have the best Christmas, surrounded by those who matter the most to you…. 🎄💗

We won’t be available until 19th January 2026.

This girl needs some recoup and self time (and giving lots of puppy love to our newest fur baby)

Peace & Love 💛
