I am only in Australia for a little while longer.

This feels like a season of becoming. To build a beautiful, new body of work across photography and reporting, while spending time in a place that already feels a little like home.

Tenho muito orgulho de conhecer o Brasil. Ver o céu da manhã daí enquanto é noite na Austrália será um presente.

For now, though, I am still here with an observant eye to watch people exhaust themselves with no crowd.

No fight night and cheers to accompany each fist flying for a lesson or triumph.

It is them, I watch in their repetition, their own promise to return time and time again—to be better than the person they were yesterday.

There is something in that growth that I keep coming back to, and I do not regret walking this path with all of you.

Limited bookings remain before I leave Australia, with short-term partnerships available in Central Queensland and quarterly partnerships available in Sydney.

The next couple of months are my final Australian availability before I leave for Brazil until the new year.

I’m opening a small number of short-term partnerships in Central Queensland before I leave, and I’ll also be taking on short-term and quarterly partnerships while I’m in Sydney.

It goes beyond the triumph. The thing I’d like to be part of is documenting the art of trying. From the reps forged in training, and the culture of an environment living through its people. A field or the walls of a gym are nothing without the community that gives them meaning.

I’m available for gyms, teams and sporting organisations needing documentary photography, athlete portraits, competition coverage or short-form videos

Upon impact, the truth of the repetition is revealed.

This is where heart is exposed. In tired legs, lungs struggling with fast breaths as sweat slithers.

One round at a time, you are found in the practiced discipline.

And that’s what I like to document in these fleeting moments, where muscles burn: the work behind the result.

It’s why I’ve opened my calendar for a limited number of one-off sessions with athletes and gyms, alongside short-term photography partnerships before I leave for Brazil.

26 laps around the sun.

Feliz aniversário para mim / happy birthday to me.

Every notch of another year won, is a gift most precious. It is another year that I hope that I embody my grandmother’s saying, “be grateful for everyday.”

These veins of mine, house plenty of mettle. Every year, my birthday is a reflection on the courage of living—and no longer just begging for the residual. I have chosen to become, to not stagnate.

It is an odd thing to be born on the first day of the Australian spring. It feels right, as throughout my 26 years of life, it has been persistent carving of ice to seed flowers in the soil below—to bloom to life. It’s my creativity, from writing to visuals around photography.

I almost didn’t make it here, several times over. While I celebrate today, epecially, I do so every day with the deepest fondness that I’ve chosen myself and made little Katie proud.

She’d be so joyous that I pursue something like this, while not believing that big Katie would be so brave to step foot in a gym only a few years ago, and to walk the path that has now embraced embers of zest.

Here’s to many more. 🥂

Self-defence is something is taught while forging trust in your own body, beyond the fears.

Unison Martial Arts. is currently running women’s self-defence classes and I deeply admire every gym who gifts that confidence to women—it starts with that yes, to sign up and find courage.

These sort of initiatives is something I can appreciate deeply as they can save a life beyond the class.

The story always begins with courage.

To weave strength in muscles breaking before their rebirth—it starts with the bravery to walk through that gym door, walk on a field or join a sporting club. It is about doing it scared, to etch your own legacy of flesh beyond your home.

The human performance is something to behold.

We all start from the unsteady ground of uncertainty, before progress slithers in heavier weights lifted—an amateur competition won or longer distance covered in running. It is those little wins that are the architect of the glory, the highlights achieved.

These are the top 10 human performance photos of mine—that tell a story of their own, from the display of action to portrait—and they are photos I am proud of.

And let me confess something. Being a part of this community has saved me, to give me the anchor of realising of my own strength and knowing the depths of the muscle in my chest.

I have heart.

And so does every single person I photograph, in their grit—to show up everyday, every session, to look at their reflection and win that battle time and time again.

It’s never about competition with another soul, it is about progress, consistency in emerging from the days stumbling—long after you were new on this earth.

It’s about growth and I adore documenting that.

My interest dances in legacy, to create work that lasts beyond the moment it’s taken. I create beyond the aim of the bravery of being seen.

The highlight matters, the pinnacle of human performance of muscles aching, with its triumph and the grit—but what leads to that? The work. The repetition, the people and community that walk with us, the grace of perseverance, goes unseen.

Through photography and journalism, that is what I want to document.

The reel is the doorway but work is the legacy.
