Can we talk about how many of you almost didn't book this session? 🙋‍♀️

I hear it every time: "I don't know if I need maternity photos", "I don't feel like myself right now", "I'll just do newborn photos instead." Totally get it. But this belly, this glow, this exact chapter- it's happening right now, and it deserves to be captured, not just remembered.

And no, you don't need to know how to pose. You don't need a "good hair day". You don't need to have it all figured out. That's my job, you just show up, and we make it easy peasy 😌 whether you want soft, candid, in the moment shots or something more intentional and posed, we'll get it- no pressure, no overthinking it.

This mama let herself be wrapped up in nothing but a dress, a breeze, and some golden evening light. Natural, unhurried, all her.

One thing a lot of parents don't know...

The best time for classic newborn photos is when your baby is **6–12 days old**. That's when they're usually the sleepiest, happiest to curl up into those squishy newborn poses, and we can capture those dreamy images everyone loves.

It's a tiny window, which is why I always recommend booking while you're still pregnant. Once baby's here, those first couple of weeks disappear ridiculously fast.

Don't be the person saying, "I wish I'd booked sooner" 🤍

Right now, your family is exactly in the middle of becoming something new. 🤍

One little person is about to become a big brother or sister. Tiny kicks will soon become tiny cuddles. And life is about to change all over again.

It's such a fleeting season, and one that's so easy to forget in the whirlwind of preparing for a new baby.

These photos become the "before"- the last chapter before your family grows.

If you've been meaning to book family photos before your newest little love arrives... don't wait until it's too late. This season deserves to be remembered too ✨

Current office: somewhere in Bruges. 🇧🇪

Current task: keeping this page alive while aggressively eating my way through Europe.

I'm literally writing this while eating basil & raspberry chocolate we found in the tiniest little medieval-looking shop, and honestly... whoever thought of putting basil in chocolate deserves a raise.

Meanwhile, here's a cake smash because my Instagram probably started wondering if I'd quit photography and become a full-time waffle reviewer.

Don't worry, I haven't. 😂

I'm just temporarily replacing cake with chocolate, balloons with castles, and studio lighting with whatever the Belgian weather decides to do.

I'll be back in Perth soon, ready to swap Belgian chocolate crumbs for cake crumbs and photograph more tiny humans absolutely demolishing birthday cakes.

See you soon... unless I accidentally move into Bruges. ❤️

Welcome to my Grumpy Mondays series 😠😆

Today's feature might just be the grumpiest newborn photo I've ever captured.

Now, before anyone worries, this little man was absolutely adorable and sweet throughout his session. But for one glorious second, he gave me this expression...

The kind of look that says:
"Excuse me, ma'am. I did not request this photoshoot."

I've photographed hundreds of newborns, and these unexpected little moments are some of my favourites. Because years from now, Mum and Dad won't just remember how tiny he was - they'll remember his attitude too 😂

Little mate came into this world weighing a few kilos and already carrying the stress of a 30-year mortgage.

My heart absolutely melted during this maternity session 🥹🤰
Two excited parents to be.
Two devoted doggies.
One growing family.
Watching their pups sit proudly beside them felt so special, as if they already knew something exciting was coming.
These photos aren't just about a baby on the way. They're about a family exactly as they are in this moment- full of love, anticipation, and a couple of furry best friends who have been there from the beginning.
Some of my favorite maternity photos are the ones that tell the whole story. And these two doggies are a very important chapter 🤍

❓ "Is a cake smash going to be messy?"

Short answer: Absolutely. 😂

But that's kind of the whole point.

Babies spend their first year being told "don't touch that", "don't make a mess", "be careful"...

A cake smash is one of the very few times they're encouraged to do the exact opposite.

Squish it. Throw it. Sit in it. Taste it. Wear it.

The funniest photos often happen when the cake is no longer looking like a cake at all.

And don't worry, I've got everything set up and ready for the chaos, so all you need to do is enjoy watching your little one have the time of their life.

Because let's be honest... babies have mastered the Monday mood better than any of us.
This week's complaint appears to be:
"I was brought to a photoshoot and nobody consulted me first" 😒

When I lived in St Petersburg, Russia, most people didn't do studio photoshoots because they preferred them.

They did them because organising an outdoor photoshoot was basically an extreme sport😄

First, you had to find a nice location. Which usually meant a VERY long drive.

Then you had to hope it wasn't raining (And if you've never been to St Petersburg... let's just say umbrellas are a lifestyle)

Then you had to hope there weren't dozens of people in the background.

So every outdoor photoshoot felt a little bit like: "Well... let's see what happens" 🤞😆

Now I live in Perth, and honestly, I don't think we realise how spoiled we are. Beautiful beaches. Gorgeous parks. Endless open spaces. And sunsets that look like someone turned the saturation up just for fun.

And June? June is underrated.

The beaches are quieter, the sunsets are incredible, and on many evenings there's hardly any wind at all which is great news for parents of little humans who don't appreciate sand in their eyes and hair in their mouths. 😄

Just golden light, happy kids, cuddles, games, and memories you'll actually want to frame.

Not a bad way to spend an evening✨
