So many great recipes comes through my newsfeed so I share them to my messenger to go back to later.
One called Thai Curry Chicken Skewers looked pretty yummy so my husband decided to make Green Pawpaw Salad to go with the dish. He is a champion at making it.

We have pawpaw trees growing in our garden so have plenty of supply.

Strips of green pawpaw
Strips of carrot
Red onion slices
Cherry tomato cut in half
Bean shoots
Chilli
Herbs
Lime juice
Fish saucce
Bring out the flavours of onion, cherry tomatoes, bean shoots and herbs in a mortar and pestle and add to pawpaw and carrot.

So yummy

Today turned out to be a fizhog of a day for what I intended to get for photos. I left early for Bells Rapids in Brigadoon WA expecting the water to be flowing nicely but was shocked to find there was no flowing water at all but a few pools. After all the rain we have had so far, it was a surprise thart’s for sure. I guess this trip will be repeated in August to wait for another couple of months of rain.

I didn’t waste the trip though as I drove around a few locations in the hills to search for some suitable spots to get sunrise photos and decided on a location looking across to Perth city for sunset.

Photos are at Bells Rapids so imagine water wildly flowing over the rocks in a month or two. Needs to be for the Avon Descent race.

I’m way behind in putting this post out. A couple of weeks ago my husband (Paul) and I did outreach first housesit at Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsula. Our son and his family live at Mt Eliza, 25 mins from where we were housesitting so we wanted to enjoy spending some time with them.

Housesitting is the way we plan to do some travel and choose where we want to be as I am an avid photographer so I have places I want to photograph without the high cost of accommodation. Paul sold his businesses awhile ago and retired so we have freedom now to do some travel again. Not interested in being on the road full-time again as we did back in 2010. Love having a home and space, friends and family around and enjoy the excitement of packing to go off again for a break away.

Loved our time housesitting looking after two gorgeous dogs and two chickens. We drove a couple of times to Cape Schanck 15 mins drive to check it out but because of the length of the walk down to the bottom of Cape Schanck, the most southerly point on the peninsular I walked it on my own because Paul was not able to do it.

Holy Moly “Fuel your body the natural way” Who needs supplements when you have these power fruit?

Are these fruit in your diet? They are filled to the brim with nutrients that are so valuable for your health and well-being. Pawpaw, guava and passionfruit straight from our garden is a real treasure, especially when they’re free of fruitfly damage all because I put a trap in the tree for those pesky, not wanted fruitfly.🪳😃

These fruit are indeed nutrient powerhouses :

Pawpaw (or papaya) are rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, magnesium and manganese, and also contains a good amount of iron, fiber, and several essential amino acids. Some varieties provide more than 100% of the recommended daily value per 100g if Vitamin C. (WOW)

Guava contains nutients including vitamin C and potassium, that may help support your heart, digestion and other body systems. They are also high in fiber and antioxidants .

Passionfruit also is high in nutents and a good source of vitamin A and C, fiber, potassium , magnesium and calcium .

I had a wonderful day out yesterday. I made a plan to visit the unique and magical Giants of Mandurah. They really do have a special presence about them, and was able to visit each one and take photos just before groups of people turned up. I had visited one some time ago but not the others so was fantastic to visit all around Mandurah bar one. I know where it is but too far away to go yesterday, so that one waits for another time.
Also, what I found out is that they all have names…..
Santi Ikto
Seba’s Song
Yabergurt Cirkelstone
Little Lui
These are the ones pictured.
They have a special presence about them. Yaburgurt Cirkelstone has a serence, thoughtful energy. The way he is resting, almost contemplative, evokes the image of a woodcutter or a traveller pausing in the forest. It’s amazing how much personality Thomas Dambo gave each of these sculptures, and learning their names definetly makes them feel more like characters than just art installations.

Aaaahhhh life gets so busy sometimes. I am behind in posting about some latest adventures. For those who don’t know, I am a photographer but I also do hotshot deliveries which is casual work but gets me out to new places.

One of my latest trips was to a mine 160k’s west of Mackay. It was a six day away trip, tiring but satisfying. These long trips are always 2 drivers. We each drive for around 5 hours and then sleep while the other one drives. Driving and sleeping only stopping to refuel, grab some takeaway or occasionally sit and eat in a cafe only because we get a bit of cabin fever….hahaha.

This trip was more eventful than other trips with many interesting things that happened to keep us entertained. First was a truck rollover on the Nullarbor which didn’t hold us up and hopefully driver not injured. The second one was a truck rollover in the QLD Central Highlands and this one held us up for 30 minutes. Again driver not injured. We eventually were able to get through and continue on our journey.

In some places there were so many kangaroos which caused us to drive at 70kph, a wombat on the Nullarbor, wild pig trotting along the edge of the road, dingo and cattle driving along the road which all slowed us down.

One of the towns we go through is St George in QLD not far from the NSW border. The Condamine River runs past the town and is a popular place for watersport on the river which is very wide. People come to St George for holidays.

Job done and we turn for home. If in the right place at the right time I can get some photos but usually we just want to get home to a comfy bed and sleep.

It’s been a long time since I visited a cave in the Margaret River region and today a visit to Lake Cave did not disappoint. Thankfully, I found out last night that I needed to book online otherwise we would have missed out.

It's a fantastic experience so if you visit here its a great adventure.
