Guide Falls - Tasmania

Another one from a while ago. I foolishly crossed this creek with bare feet and paid the price with very cold and sore feet when I returned to the other side. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and now I think how lucky I was to not cut my foot open on a rock or broken glass. Needless to say, I dont go in barefoot anymore and I trust that my Otex waterproof socks will do the trick :)

Rosette Nebula

One of the largest nebulae in our galaxy, at 115 light years across and 4900 light-years from Earth. Located in the constellation Monoceros, the nebula has been catalogued as Caldwell 49 along with several NGC designations – 2237, 2238, 2239 and 2246.

6.5hrs of data integration over several nights from a Bortle 4 Tasmanian sky late February.

Telescope : Askar 80PHQ Focal length 602mm
Camera : ASI2600MC Pro
Mount : EQ6-R Pro
Filter : Antlia Quadband

Best viewed on a large screen, zoom in and look around :)

Rosette Nebula

Lower Forth Falls - Tasmania

I took a 3.5 hour drive from Hobart to this walk at Wilmot on the western side of Lake Barrington a couple of weeks ago. The Kentish Walks team had been in a few days before I hit this track and it was in pristine condition, no mud and some freshly tidied up tracks. This is the middle falls (Grade 3 to this point) and as you can probably guess there's another waterfall further up the track (Grade 4 to this section) and there is a view to the lower falls into the lake further downstream. A nice 2 hour return walk plus stopping to take it all in and photo stops. Happy Waterfall Wednesday :)
