The sky was painted in golden light, waves rose over the dragon’s back and the water flowed gently over its shoulders. The dragon is solid and timeless amongst the motion. I hope my perspective on this Mornington Peninsula classic scene provides a window into its beauty.

The sea mist hung in the air and there was hardly a breath of wind. The ocean waves were still crashing down. The Aurora danced to the symphony, mirrored in the water below.

Nature dancing in the spotlight… I woke early and wandered out of Windermere Hut on Tasmania’s Overland Track. I love the shape of this tree, it seems to be dancing, swirling its many arms through the air and twisting its body around.

That small blue dot in the bottom right is my dad’s backpack, dwarfed by the massive peaks of Cradle Mountain. If you look closely you can see the trail leading to the top and Kitchen Hut, an emergency shelter.

“Windermere Sunrise” Overland Track Hike. I woke early on the third day of the hike and wandered along the tracks amongst the fog until the sun came up and cast its beams across the scene.

Dove Lake and Cradle Mountain - a second photo from the first day of my eight day Overland Track hike. Cradle Mountain is at the top right of the image. It was a very steep track to reach this location - at one point there was a chain to hold as you climbed big rocky steps all while carrying 8 days worth of hiking gear. The big climb is pretty much finished at this point and the view is a great reward for the effort.

Photo best viewed full screen landscape… I recently spent 8 Day’s hiking Tasmania’s Overland Track with my Dad. I have many hundreds of photos to go through and I look forward to sharing more with you. The scenery was breathtaking and the challenges made it extra rewarding. The experience of escaping the hustle and bustle and spending time with my Dad and a great bunch of other hikers in this amazing place makes for such special memories.

Bushfires from lightning have just started near the track and they have had to close the track for now. We’re so lucky to have been able to complete this journey.
