Hi Nightscapers,

This is important to those that want to preserve and enjoy our dark skies, please read, please sign. This group alone could get the votes needed….

ADSA (Australasian DarkSky Alliance) has put forward a petition to the Federal Government to put laws into place to control light pollution.

The petition needs 10000 signatures and if it fails this time, it will be two years before a similar petition can be lodged.

I urge everyone in this group to sign this petition and to share it amongst friends, other community groups, environmental groups, birding groups, naturalist groups etc and encourage them to sign and share it.

I live very close to a RAAF base, it can be hard to keep planes out of my images sometimes but this night I decided to try and use the light trails they create in my compositions.

I liked how this shot turned out, the trail left by the plane coming in to land just adds a little extra to the scene.

Settings - 16mm, f2.8, 20 seconds, iso6400

I’ve been out with the newly announced 16mm f2.8 P FE lens over the last few weeks and managed to get a nice clear night capturing the stars.

I haven’t quite finished my review yet, should be done within a few weeks on www.nightscapephotographer.com link in bio. So check back or subscribe to the site and you’ll get an email when it drops if you are interested.

What do I like so far? - The size, it’s really small and light so pairs up well with my Sony A7C2 . The location of the USB port for updates is hidden in the lens mount so not exposed to the elements when shooting at night (I really like this). Weather sealing.

The milkyway season is in full swing and we are getting some nice clear nights in Vic!

I took this image a few nights ago, early in the night, using the new 14-24mm f2.8 FE lens for Sony mirrorless cameras.
