Modern competitive woodchopping originated in Tasmania during the 1870's from competition to determine who could fell a tree or chop a log fastest (so google tells me!). This year I was lucky enough to capture some images from behind the fence and also from THE best seat in the house up in the commentator's box. Tell you what, next time at the Nowra Show do yourself a favour, go sit, watch and cheer them on as this sport is damn hard work.

Saturday afternoon at the Nowra Show was about horses for me. There’s something wonderfully grounding about being around people who are out just enjoying their animals, the dust, the catch up, the cheering on and the small moments that make the whole scene feel honest. While I didn't get to capture the entire sporting, you can get the drift of the great time which was had by all. And as usual , a big 'hooray' to those support runners in these events as it was a really hot afternoon!

Saturday morning at the Nowra Show was spent in the cattle ring with the school's beef cattle competition , this was a very different scene to their dairy cousins on Friday. You have to appreciate the time and effort it takes to prepare both handler and bovine (on either day) and there is so much to learn from simply being a spectator or listening to the judge's feedback on the competitors. Huge well done to all the competitors from both days. Nowra Show

A community show is unique — it’s not just an event; it’s a thread that runs through people’s lives. I think it's pretty special to return year after year, first as a child, then with my own children, and now with my grandchildren. Nowra Show is a great place to catch up with friends and meet people from all walks of life. A massive well done to the committee and all the volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes and an absolute huge hooray to all the legendary parents who make sure their child (no matter how old) has everything they need on the day .... they carry gear, run alongside ponies, groom , pat , cook , mend stuff and wipe tears away 🙌🙌🙌. Here's a variety of images I've captured on Friday, Saturdays images will be posted in the next few days.

Absolutely bursting with excitement to receive notification of my result in a National Amatuer Photo Comp (its been a long long wait). To say I enjoy photgraphy is such an understatement, I love this gig and look forward to continually learning and improving in my newfound craft 📸.
