EOI | BLACK BACKGROUND EQUINE PORTRAITS

I’m looking for a horse + owner for a discounted black background equine portrait session as I refine and expand this style within my equine work.

For this one, the location is just as important as the horse.

I’m specifically looking for a property with a stable, barn or shed with a large open doorway and dark interior, where we can safely position your horse just inside the entrance.

$120 session | 5 professionally edited digital images

Hunter Valley
Weekend availability required, ideally late afternoon.

Any breed, colour or discipline is welcome. Horse-only and horse + owner portraits can be included.

The horse must be quiet and safely handled, and you’ll need access to a suitable stable, barn or shed.

If you’d like to be in the portraits with your horse, you’ll need to bring another capable handler to assist with safely positioning and handling your horse while you’re in front of the camera.

Travel within 30km driving distance of Singleton is included. Travel outside of this area can absolutely be accommodated and will be quoted based on location.

This session is heavily discounted while I get creative and refine this style within my equine work.

With everything currently circulating around AI and the sharing of children’s images online, I just wanted to make something very clear

At Step Back In Time Photography, it has ALWAYS been up to the parents.

If you’re comfortable with me sharing images of your children, you give me permission to do so.

If you’re not comfortable with them being shared, I honour that. No questions asked. They are not posted.

Your images are delivered through a private, password-protected online gallery, and for families who would prefer their images not be delivered online at all, I am more than happy to sit down with you and deliver them in person.

This isn’t a new policy because of what’s happening online.

This has always been my policy.

They are your children.
They are your memories.
And ultimately, they are your decision.

Your wishes as their parent will always come before my need for content, advertising or a pretty photo for social media.

She waits at the rails for breakfast, knowing it won’t be long.

There’s a quiet certainty in that. The kind built from morning after morning of being fed, checked and cared for.

She doesn’t know when the person on the other side of those rails is tired, when they’re crook, when the weather’s turned or when the day before didn’t quite go to plan.

She only knows they come.

And perhaps that’s what this photograph is really about.

Not a calf waiting for breakfast, but the person she knows will always come. 🤎

Little BTS - there’s a moment in almost every session where the camera starts to disappear.

The nerves settle. The laughter becomes real. Hands find each other without being told where to go.

And somewhere in between giving a little direction and quietly stepping back, I get to watch people simply become themselves again.

That’s the part I’m always waiting for.

Waiting for another day.

Another early morning. Another milking. Another feed. Another hundred little jobs that come with keeping a dairy running.

For now, the work clothes hang clean and still.

Soon they’ll be pulled on, worn through the hours and carry the dust, sweat and traces of a day’s work before finding their way back here again.

Washed. Hung. Waiting.

For another day.
