SvenStudios Award winning photographic services by Steven 'Sven' Duncan

I believe photography is about portraying a scene in ways that people recognise, but at the same time, have never witnessed before. Anyone can take a photo of a scene, but I want to show the world what I can create through my lens in ways that are unique and yet completely relatable to other people who have witnessed the same scene. Crafting most of my photographs require careful planning and pati

ence, which from a glance of the result can seem simple, however I cannot control the weather, the light, and the majority of subjects I take photos of are immovable. I carefully weigh all of these factors into creating my art and the result are my numerous award-winning creations. Wedding photography is an area I was naturally drawn to, my disarming personality and ability to make people comfortable around me allows my images to show true emotion in my subjects. All throughout my life I’ve worked with people, so this is simply natural progression for me, and according to feedback I’ve received it’s very much appreciated. For my landscape work, I draw much of my inspiration from the indefatigable Adelaide-based landscape photographer, David Evans, and as such I tend to use a lot of long exposure techniques in my work, most obvious with my astro and waterfall photographs. Long exposure photography allows me to capture a series of events, or longer moments in time that the human eye cannot otherwise capture in a scene, hence helping me in my goal of showing the world what people recognise, but still be unique about it. Having lived in Japan for 2 years, much of my work portrays a landscape of Japan not many people tend to associate with the country. I enjoy showing people the vivid colours and rolling landscapes of the countryside of Japan, along with traditional architecture and her vibrant people.

“There is a reason why Japan consumes the most cameras in the world”

Other notable work focuses on the stunning landscapes around Australia and the South Pacific ocean, where I have travelled extensively over the last 5 years, solely for the sake of documenting it’s scenery in my own style of photography. I have completed a Degree in Multimedia at the University of South Australia, a Certificate IV in Photoimaging at TAFE SA and a Masters in Teaching at Flinders University.

Rain threatened all day, but Lauren and Bek weren't about to let a few sprinkles steal the spotlight. ☔❤️

Their beautiful Tiny House on the Prairie Wedding had all the ingredients for an unforgettable celebration. A charming VW Kombi van, a heartfelt first look along a country track, a playful ring bearer dog who kept everyone smiling, and lakeside portraits as the weather finally cleared.

One of my favourite moments was their sand ceremony, where family members and the wedding party each contributed to a keepsake bottle before Lauren and Bek completed it together during the ceremony. Such a meaningful way to include the people closest to them.

The newly renovated reception space was the perfect setting for speeches before everyone headed outside to dance beneath the fairy lights. A relaxed, joyful day filled with laughter, happy tears, and plenty of personality.

Congratulations Lauren and Bek! Thank you for trusting me to capture your amazing day. 🥂

Madeline and Brayden's beautiful wedding day took me out to the Riverland for a gorgeous St Peter's Church Wedding in Loxton. From the unique setting of the River Princess paddle steamer where Brayden and his groomsmen got ready, to an emotional first look with Madeline's dad, every part of the day felt personal and meaningful.

With rain threatening for most of the day, we somehow managed to dodge the showers whenever we needed to be outside. After their ceremony at St Peter's Church, we explored a nearby reserve for photos before celebrating with a relaxed lunch reception at the Loxton Hotel. One of the most touching moments came when Brayden received a collection of family recipes, bringing plenty of emotion to the afternoon. We even finished the day back at the paddle steamer for a few final portraits before the light disappeared.

Sometimes wedding photography turns into controlled chaos 😅📸

We were running a little behind schedule at The Manor Basket Range and the last of the light was disappearing FAST, so this became one of those moments where I had to move very quickly to squeeze as much magic as possible out of a few remaining minutes.

A lot of couples don’t realise how quickly sunset changes during wedding photos — one minute everything is glowing beautifully and the next it’s just… gone 😂

Definitely stressful in the moment, but honestly some of my favourite images happen when there’s a little bit of pressure and everyone just trusts the process

I made a reel a while back showing the behind the scenes of a similar galaxy wedding photo, but this night gave us SUCH a clearer sky 🌌✨

You can properly see the Milky Way stretching across the background and it made all the chaos of creating this shot completely worth it!

These photos always look peaceful in the final result… meanwhile behind the scenes I’m out in the dark running lights through paddocks, setting up lights, fighting autofocus, and trying not to trip over rocks while explaining to the couple that yes, this will actually look amazing 😂

Definitely one of those moments where trusting the process pays off.

Same day edits are one of the most stressful things I do at weddings 😅

After already shooting for 14-16 hours, you disappear into a corner of the reception, dump footage, pray nothing corrupted, race the clock editing highlights from a day that’s still actively happening… all while running almost entirely on adrenaline and caffeine.

It’s definitely not something most wedding filmmakers offer because there are SO many ways it can go wrong 😂

But when the film finally exports… the music hits… and the couple watches moments from earlier that very same day surrounded by all their family and friends — honestly, it’s one of the best feelings ever.
