This is The Three Beauties - one of Cappadocia’s most iconic fairy chimney formations, just outside Ürgüp.
What makes Ürgüp’s logo genuinely smart is that it doesn’t just illustrate the landmark - it becomes the typography.
Look closely at the “Ü”. It’s a stylized version of the fairy chimneys themselves, refined down to a clean, ownable letterform. And what’s even better - the iconic rock caps of the formations perfectly double as the dots (the umlauts) of the letter. Just brilliant!
This is what great strategic logo design actually looks like. It’s not a nice picture sitting next to a name; it’s an idea so tightly built into the mark that form and meaning are inseparable. Take away the rest of the word, and you’d still recognize the place instantly. It’s rooted, it’s ownable, and it couldn’t belong to anywhere else in the world!
