Looking for a place to cool down or have a picnic on the Sunshine Coast without the sand?

Try Wappa Falls, its a beautiful spot just at the base of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland near Yandina. The falls has a small amount of car parking and very few other amenities but this helps to keep the crowds away. It is a favourite with the locals for a swim and a picnic.

The car park is very close to the top of the falls and is an easy stroll to see the water cascading over the rocks into the plunge pool.

To access the deeper water for a swim it's a good idea to take the well-worn path to the right of the falls. If that is too much effort you can head across to the top of the falls and sit in the shallower pools and just let the cool water rush over you.

There are no picnic tables, toilets or seats so you will need to be self-sufficient. However a short drive down the road there is all of these facilities at Wappa Dam.

Best time to visit is after rains, fortunately, at the moment the Wappa Dam is spilling so this is keeping a good flow of water into the creek.

It's FriYay! Time to share a few more of our photographic memories of our Aussie Rambling. We often have to pinch ourselves to check if we really are this lucky, to live in such a beautiful country, and to be able to explore it. We love it!

Sadly we haven't been as mobile lately, sometimes we have to pause and earn a living and the Covid-19 virus has made travel more difficult. We are patient and there are so many places worthy of exploration so along with some downtime we have been able to plan for more travels. The second half of 2020 has got to be better than the first!

Who knew about the St James link to GJ Coles before this silo art project was completed? St James is a small town in Northern Victoria and it is now part of the North East Art Trail. The St James Silo Art is another wonderful silo art painted by Tim Bowtell.

These photos were taken during our visit earlier this year, although we had been there before but they were not complete at the time. The St James Country Hotel, just across the road, does an awesome coffee and the locals were very friendly and up for a chat.

Another great spot to add to your travels along the North East Victoria Silo Art Trail.

It's Flashback Friday again! More memories of places we have photographed and would love to return to.

Australia is so huge and has such diverse landscapes, we love the dusty outback and the sun, surf and sea, we also love our very livable cities (although the traffic is a huge pain and we could do without it!) and the rolling hills, alpine views, country towns. We keep pinching ourselves at how lucky we are to live here. This is a showcase of some favourite spots in South Australia.

Some more photos of things we like to take photos of :-) Yep, another Lighthouse! This is the Byron Bay Lighthouse at, you guessed it, Byron Bay.

The Lighthouse sits atop Cape Byron Headland and looks out to the Pacific Ocean. This time of year you might be lucky to see whales swimming past or frolicking in the water. It is also the most easterly point of mainland Australia, so for those wanting to travel to all the points of the compass in Australia, going here would be a big tick on your bucket list.

It's also just a beautiful spot, for sunrise, sunset, during the day and even for astro photography, although it was so busy the last time we went you couldn't get a carpark anywhere near the road heading there, so be prepared for a walk during busy periods.

With more restrictions lifted, Queenslanders are out exploring!. Our trip was out west to the Yelarbon, Queensland Silo Art. The second stage of this project was recently completed during the lockdown. One of the larger Silo Art installations it is titled “When the Rains Come”. It's located in the Goondiwindi Regional Council Area and was completed by the very talented Brightsiders

Wow! What a piece of art! It had been raining the night before which gave us the opportunity to capture the silo's again in the reflection. We were lucky with the day as it was glorious with stunning blue sky and puffy white clouds to frame the water themed art.

Something a little different for a Sunday .....

During lock down we were very jealous of some of the gorgeous and really challenging jigsaw puzzles that many of our friends were doing. Our local shops were sold out of jigsaws so we had to look for an alternative.

Who would have thought you can be addicted to Online Jigsaw Puzzles!

Our favourite place was Jigsaw Planet where there is an unlimited number to keep you busy (and your addiction fed!) You can also make your own and share them with the public, so here is one from Aussie Rambling to get you started

It's Flashback Friday!
Looking for inspiration on what to do and where to go?
We were flicking through a few old pics, talking about some of the wonderful memories we have been lucky enough to make, all the friends we have met and made along the way, and we can feel that familiar pull to get out and “coddiwomple”. I love that word, “coddiwomple”, to travel purposefully towards a yet unknown destination. So today we are enjoying some of our earlier photos and tomorrow we are destined to coddiwomple in South East Queensland. Enjoy these photos and your weekend too!

On our last interstate travels earlier this year, we were lucky enough to experience this stunning sunset at Lake Mulwala.

These photos were taken within stumbling distance from our campsite. We rugged up as it was a little chilly and wandered down to the lakes edge enjoying an icy cold beer and scrumptious fish & chips from one of the local shops, while we waited for this to happen. As you can see we were certainly not disappointed. What a stunning spot right on the edge of the water at DC on the Lake.

Exploring Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia is something that we love to do. A couple of our fav spots to get out and clear our head is the walk to the The Pinnacles, Port Phillip Island as well as Forrest Caves and The Nobbies. These photos were taken earlier this year.

The Pinnacles Walk is about 4.5km and is accessed from the Woolamai Beach Car Park. From Cape Woolamai, the highest point on the island, you get the spectacular views of the coastline and rock formations. It can be pretty windy so rug up in the cooler weather. Well worth the effort.

The walk to Forrest Caves can be just as wild and windy, being fully exposed to the ocean, and is only able to be done at mid to low tide. Nothing like fresh blustery salt air to clear the cobwebs. The caves themselves have been eroded over a long period of time and can be entered at low tide, but be careful.

The Nobbies are also nearly permanently windy as they too are open to the ocean. There are some walking paths where you can get some great views of the coastline and different angles of the dome shaped rocks. Further out you can see Seal Rocks were Australia's largest colony of fur seals live. The cafe here is not a back place to grab a coffey and enjoy the view out of the wind.

Some more photos from our visit to the Point Malcolm Lighthouse that I thought I would share. It perches on the edge of the lakes in what once would have been a very lonely place but is now visited by many travellers who enjoy the Narrung Ferry Camp Area and the use of the Ferry across The Narrows (the link between Lake Albert & Lake Alexandrina). Fishing off the jetty and enjoying the sunset you can practically hear the serenity. Well worth a visit.
