📣 Newborn photoshoot announcement from me..
After lots (and lots) of thinking, soul searching, and back and forth with my own brain, I have reached the decision that in 2027 I will no longer be offering newborn photoshoot packages, both in-home sessions and in the studio.
Why the change?
The simple and honest answer is, my imposter syndrome and my own personal anxiety have ramped up quite a lot this year 😔 Facing lots of illness in our home meant lots of shoot reschedules, which led to overwhlem and even more anxiety about missing that crucial newborn window and dissapointing my beautiful clients.
I have always known that being a wedding photographer would be too much pressure for my anxiety to handle, and I am starting to feel the same about newborn shoots 😔
And truthfully, what really sets my heart on fire right now is empowering women ✨️ both through Maternity sessions and my new offering - Femme photoshoots. So these sessions are what I plan to lean into more in 2027 (along with family shoots).
Don't worry if you've already booked! All my upcoming newborn photoshoots will still go ahead, and I am really looking forward to meeting all of the beautiful babies that are booked 🥹
And if you were thinking of booking for 2027 with a new arrival, you'd need to book a family beach photoshoot with the understanding that:
🩷 Your shoot may be rescheduled due to illness or weather (super cold, rainy or windy) just like a regular family shoot, and this may mean bub is not brand new by the time we shoot.
🩷 It also means no posed solo shots of bub on cushions or in baskets etc, just super relaxed family photos with baby in your arms (and of course a few close up detail shots).
So if your heart is set on solo posing, a studio or in-home shoot, and baby being teeny tiny - then I am not the photographer for you ... At least in 2027 I'm not!
Whilst it feels hard to make this change, I know ultimately it's what I need to do, and the thought of focusing in on the session types that really light me up, is going to have a big & positive impact on my mental health 💫
Forever grateful you're here Mummas,
Bel x
