As small business owners, we’re told all the time to specialise. Pick a niche, stick to it, and become the person for that one thing.

And I get it. There’s a lot of sense in having a clear niche.

But sometimes I wonder if we take it too far — and whether it can slowly box us in creatively.

Because yes, photographing a family is very different from photographing a corporate team. But the fundamentals are still the same: light, composition, connection, storytelling.

So why do we define ourselves so much by what we photograph?

What if we defined ourselves by how we see instead?

My style is natural, a little undone, beautiful and human. And I can bring that same visual language to families, brands, food, or whatever else I happen to feel creatively drawn to.

The subject changes. The way I see doesn’t.

Maybe we don’t always need to specialise in a subject.

Maybe we can specialise in a way of seeing and leave ourselves a little more room to grow, explore and follow our creativity without putting it in a box.

A very special weekend at the Chrysalis Women’s Retreat, hosted by two incredible facilitators, Ali Skiba and Destiny Wolf , in the most beautiful space at Zensi Retreat .

I feel so honoured to have witnessed these ladies work their magic and to have met so many wonderful women over the weekend. It was such a privilege to connect, share stories, and be part of such a beautiful experience🤍

so here’s the thing winter sessions are honestly such a win if you’re not a sunrise person 😅

the light is beautiful from around 2–3pm, beaches are way less crowded, and it’s usually not as windy as summer. plus… layers, chunky knits, beanies it all looks cosy 🥹
