Last Sunday and myself set our alarms for am early rise and drive to turrimetta. Our lack of sleep paid off with some nice flow in the channel and even a splash of colour in the sky.

A recent sunrise shoot from Little Bay, quite a relaxing way to start the day. I need to try and get out more often!

My take from 2022

"Bloom"

Picture a meadow just as winter surrenders to spring. Tiny buds blossom in the sun and sway in the breeze. Whether natives or exotics they never fail to delight.

Now imagine this field blooming with light. Spread over a grassy bank, giant flowers of light seem to furl and unfurl.

Just got home from a little family getaway down the coast.

I managed to sneak out one night to capture this little bit of astro. The almost full moon was setting behind me which lit up the old bombo quarry like daylight.

Tgis was the first astro I have shot in a long time and it was exciting to see the milkyway shining so bright!

This was one shot taken on my D750. Edited on lightroom mobile.

24mm - ISO 4000 - f/2.8 - 25 sec

So something I am always trying to do is just.prove on my editing technique.

I do all my editing on my mobile phone so straight away am a little limited to some of the more power editing tools. But on mobile still gives me a fair bit of control.

Over the Easter break, I picked up the dreaded covid (I have had a very mild dose, I feel fine) so I have used my time in ISO to watch some editing tutorials from guys that are 1000% better photographers than I will ever be haha. (Thanks to for steering me in the right direction!)

So after watching some tutorials, I decided to reedit the photo from cahills lookout that I posted the other day. And safe to say, I love this version so much more.

It makes me tempted to get a computer again so I could do more in photoshop but for now this will have to do.

Shot on D750 with 14-24mm lens.

f/11 - ISO 100 - 1/3 sec - 14mm

Fog in the valley and colour in the sky made for a nice combination this morning.

Braved the early morning alarm for a trip up the mountains with for sunrise. With a last minute destination change we took the risk of shooting a reverse sunrise. We sat there in anticipation watching the colour slowly spread across the sky.

Just before Christmas and I set our alarms for 3am for a sunrise shoot up in the mountains.

This is shot standing on the edge of a water fall that's falls 180m into the Grose Valley.

Although we didn't get the conditions we were hoping for we did get a moment of nice golden light flooding into the Valley.

This is a composite of a few images as I only have a 24mm lens and could not get the whole frame in 1 shot!
