THE SURPRISING REGRETS BRIDES TALK ABOUT AFTER THE WEDDING
After the dress is hung up, the flowers are gone, and the last guest has left — these are some of the things brides often wish they’d done differently:
👉🏻Not leaving enough buffer in the timeline.
Everything takes a little longer on a wedding day. Give yourself room to breathe rather than running from one thing to the next.
👉🏻Not eating enough.
It sounds obvious, but between getting ready, photos, guests and the reception, it’s surprisingly easy to forget. Have something easy to eat while getting ready — and actually sit down for it.
👉🏻Wearing uncomfortable shoes all day.
You don’t need to sacrifice comfort for the photos. Bring a second pair for later in the day.
👉🏻Not having someone hold onto the little essentials.
Phone, lipstick, tissues, safety pins, medication, mints — nominate someone you trust to carry them so you’re not worrying about them.
Not spending enough time with their people.
The day moves quickly. Be intentional about making time for the friends and family you really want to see.
👉🏻Not getting enough family photos.
They can feel like a chore on the day, but years later, these are often the photographs you’re most grateful to have.
👉🏻Trying to make everything perfect.
Something will run late. Someone will forget something. The weather might change. Let it happen and keep enjoying the day.
👉🏻Not stepping away for a moment.
Take five minutes together during the reception. No phones, no guests, no schedule — just take in what’s happening.
👉🏻Not having the little details ready.
Keep your invitations, rings, perfume, jewellery and sentimental pieces together in one box so they’re easy to photograph without having to search for everything.
👉🏻Not investing enough thought into how they’d remember it.
The day itself goes by incredibly fast. What you have afterwards is what allows you to return to it.
The funny thing about weddings is that you spend months planning one day and then it’s over before you know it.
So while you’re planning the flowers, the venue and the timeline, don’t forget to plan for the part that comes after.
The photographs you’ll frame.
The film you’ll watch years later.
The moments you’ll want to return to.
That’s the part we care about most at Twelve Eleven. 🤍
