Majestic beginning, Lake Oberon.

In 2020 .adventureart and I spent two nights atop of Mt Sirius in the heart of the Western Arthurs. The time spent up there was truly unforgettable, with perfect weather and stunning light providing the ideal conditions for capturing countless images .This image, a favourite, shows the sunrise illuminating the mountain peaks, marking the beginning of another brilliant day of cherished moments that I'll never forget.

Stacked

Exploring the intimate details of the natural world has recently expanded my creative vision, revealing layers of beauty and complexity that often go unnoticed. Halfway through the Beggary Bumps in the Western Arthurs, Tasmania, I found myself particularly captivated by the intricate details of the rock layers and formations while stopping for a lunch break. One rock face stood out among the rest, a towering structure approximately 30 meters in height. It's rugged formations, captured in an image titled "Stacked," hinted at a story etched in the earth's ancient past. This imposing rock face, with its unique textures and layered arrangements, serves as a testament to the geological forces that have shaped our planet over millions of years.

My first adventure to the Western Arthurs in Tasmania back in 2018 was unforgettable. On my second morning there, just after sunrise, I captured this image titled "Jurassic" over Lake Oberon. The surreal sight of a low cloud inversion gracefully climbing over the lake was nothing short of magical. It was this moment that ignited my passion for this wild and untamed part of Australia.

That incredible high was soon tempered by the realities of nature. For the next four days, I was confined to my tent as the weather turned extremely dangerous. On the fifth morning, around 2 a.m., struggling to sleep, I noticed the weather had eased up and made the call to hike all the way out. That was a very long day of hiking. It took only 12 months before I returned to conquer the range from Moraine A to K

On a side note, this particular area has become increasingly popular over the years. During my last visit, I was disheartened to see the amount of rubbish accumulating under the tent platforms. I even ended up carrying out some hiking poles someone had left behind. It's vital that we all practice the principle of leaving no trace to ensure that places like this remain untouched and pristine for future generations.

The Dampier Peninsula beckons with it's mesmerizing blend of earthy red rock formations, white sand, and crystal-clear ocean water. This is a place that has left an indelible mark on my heart, one that I undoubtedly plan to revisit in the future. Its sheer beauty is nothing short of pure bliss.

Circulate, Yawuru Country⁣

North-west Australia has an unusually massive continental shelf, stretching hundreds of kilometres out towards Indonesia, and this is why the Kimberley tides are among some of the biggest in the world and the largest of the Southern Hemisphere. The average tidal range is 10 metres, but with king tides occurring twice a year, this can be much more significant⁣⁣

Cascading, Yawijibaya Country⁣

Last year Tim Wrate and I spent a week in the Kimberley, Western Australia capturing the stunning landscape from above. Totalling 16 hours flight-time over 8 flights, I was gratefully left with the mammoth challenge of reviewing over 8,000 photos. It was an incredibly adventurous week and I am privileged to have had the opportunity. ⁣

⁣Montgomery Reef is the world's largest inshore reef and is located in one of the most spectacular tidal landscapes on earth - about 20 kilometres off the coast of the Kimberley North-western Australia. The tidal range varies from ten to twelve meters and is the highest in the southern hemisphere. At low tide the sea level drops by ten to twelve meters where the entire reef emerges from the ocean. As the water cannot flow off the platform as fast as the sea level falls, the outward movement forms a torrent of water, creating a river cutting through the reef and hundreds of cascading waterfalls. ⁣

Back in December last year I hiked the whole main range track with no pre conceived photo ideas. When got to this spot on the track I was in awe of the snow melt.
