So falling back in old hobbies... 📖

Reading was one of those hobbies I had loved as a kid. Curling up in bed with an Enid Blyton book was something I enjoyed as a kid. Since the start of the year, I have gone back to reading books like Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Gamus or Wish You were Here by Jodi Picoult.

I find that having a community (e.g. a book club) where you can share what you had learnt from your hobbies like can really reinforce the joy of having hobbies. There is a sense of social interaction or gaining other perspectives that one can get much enjoyment out of.

So I slowly dive into landscape photography again after a long hiatus, I hope that I can see you face to face for a shoot session rather than having chats online. After all, hobbies are meant to be enjoyed in a community. So don't be afraid to say hi! 😃

Sometimes it takes a fog to see things in a different light.

One may see a million photos of the fog floating through the Sydney Harbour today. Yes, it was an amazing sight to see; with more people whipping out their cameras along the today. But I chose to put a photo of my local nook today. There is something more intimate about shooting this corner throughout the fog. It is like this is my local and quite possibly for me to enjoy the moment all for myself. And to you as well if you are into the moody foggy goodness.

Till then, I wish you a very good Sunday indeed.

The hidden gems of Town Hall 🕰

Wandering through the clock tower at Town Hall during a focus tour was indeed very satisfying for an explorer like me.
Andrew the clock master from led us through a very entertaining journey of the history behind the clock tower with fascinating tales on how the clock worked and devious tales about the maintenance of the clock. He certainly added a lot of passion to his work and the stories he told which fascinated me.
Hope you enjoy the photos taken along the journey!

So the photos from that you have been waiting for!

The fireworks during the birthday staycation a few weeks ago were the icing on the cake literally. , and I were having dinner when we heard the sky go boom with loud firework noises. We rushed to our gear and ended up snapping away what we could of the exploding fireworks behind the opera house.

Thanks to for allowing me to experience in a very special way on a very special day. Definitely a day to remember when you are enjoying the sights of the festival in a nice warm room and away from the chilly winds.

So it has been a while…

Do you love when nature throws on a show for you? I was really fortunate to see the fog and autumn colours during my recent visit to the Victorian High Country region. The time over there was simply magical and perfect for recharging the batteries from Sydney life.

One main theme that came to me during my travels is that one doesn’t get to see the beautiful scenery in the Aussie countryside. Yes, there is an universe to explore outside Australia, but there is always that one little Australian town that charms the heart upon visiting. Perhaps more time can be spent on exploring the various Australian landscapes and rural townships. What do you think?

So what does impact means to you?

Impact can’t measured through numbers; the numbers only tell the story through hard facts. Number of likes, saves, comments on social only tell a superficial story about impact. Solely focusing on quantifiable impact may seem good in the board room but rarely moves the heart.

Impact may require emotions to tell the full story to the audience. The emotions invoked on seeing something is considered real impact. The impact that inspires people to tell their own story through replication; through reaching out to the creator with their kind comments or even heartfelt energy through the community. Now that isn’t something that can be quantified by numbers.

As the year comes to the end, can you ask yourself this question – what impact have you made for the people around you?

So time to have a new perspective…

Chasing the Minyon waterfall wasn’t the option here. With the waterfall being a trickle here, it wasn’t worth a shot in my books.

Now I had come so far to chase waterfalls in the Byron hinterland, what else can be out here?

After scanning the environment and swopping camera lenses, I saw the dapple of light fly across the trees near the waterfalls. The constant motion in the leaves and myriad of greens were indeed eye catching the very least. Making the best of what was at hand was the best I could have ever done.

Sometimes in a situation that leads to broken expectations, what would you do at the moment? Sit and cry? Or trying something new in your corner of broken expectorations? Sometimes one may need a reframe or a perspective shift to see things in a very different light.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

My fondest childhood memory was when I was running about in the local park as a 6 year old with a candle lit lantern. My fun with the lantern soon ended when my lantern burnt out as I fell over on the grass patch. I was crying for the loss of my lantern till I was bribed with mooncakes by loved ones.

It is funny that we do remember the past with such fond memories especially with such cute moments. I realise that nostalgia plays a significant part to remember the good old days and forget the present. So let us be mindful of the present and appreciate the little things in life.

All it takes for fog …

… to turn the moment magical.

I have to admit it has been pretty tough to shoot landscapes this year given that Sydney is still in lockdown. So when I woke up on Saturday morning and saw all the fog lingering along the river, I just jumped out of the house to see it all for myself.

The fog along the river nook has been so magical, it was something that you had to see it for yourself. Going out to see this was indeed the creativity boost I needed for the weekend.

R U Ok?

Given that most of us have been living under lockdowns or restrictions for the past 18 months, our mental health has gone through a massive rollercoaster. Most of us may experience sadness, anxiety or depression as our quality of life has taken a different form now. Not everyone can adjust to such a massive difference to their lifestyle.

Let’s take today as a starting point to really look into if all of us are really ok. If you are fortunate to be in a good headspace, try connecting with your loved ones with a simple chat to check on them. A conversation with them at the right moment can be often be a tiny start to show that you care for them. After all, checking in on your loved ones should be an everyday thing.

Of Fog and Flood…

There is something beautiful about the combination of weather elements. What you can see here is the formation of water-logged plains from the week-long rains back in March this year. I was fortunate to have .clarity_ to show me this part of NSW.

Throw in the early sunrise light and foggy conditions, one can just appreciate the beauty of light through the reflection of the large pools of water and through the fog.

It is one morning that is stored in the memory bank for ages. I had learnt from that morning is that there always positivity arising from what may seem depressing and negative. Your perception on what seems positive is largely dependent on your mindset at that moment in time.
