Today marks the 29th National Sorry Day.

Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge the Stolen Generations, First Nations babies and children who were forcibly removed from their families, communities, Country and culture under past government policies.

Today, we acknowledge the deep hurt, grief and continuing impacts of those forced removals on Stolen Generations Survivors, their families and descendants. The ripple effects of those policies are still felt today.

Please check in with your First Nations family, loved ones, friends and colleagues. Be mindful of how today may be impacting people around you — even passers-by and strangers you meet throughout the day.

Today, we say Sorry.

When Marie Bashir was Governor of NSW and Chancellor of Sydney University she opened the first exhibition of the portraits I co-created with the KBH Survivors - on Sorry Day 2011 at Sydney University (see comments). She opened exhibitions of these portraits at Bondi Pavillion and Governor Macquarie Tower, among others. It was such an honour.
Vale Marie Bashir. A remarkable humanitarian.

Join us for the first in our series of Water Practice Group Circle Backs as we speak with participants of Objects Embodied facilitated by Lyn Swett Miller, and Bodies Connected by Water with Frances Bukovsky. Together we will explore how water inspired embodied photographic practices within these groups as they generously share from their work and experiences.

Bodies Connected by Water Participants:

Together we will consider how we can use our camera to tend to the waters that flow in our own bodies, as well as build relationships to the waters that surround us. We hope you will join us! Register here: https://kinship.photography/gatherings-list/embodied-water

This portrait of photographer John Janson-Moore (centre, with camera) was made amidst the 300,000-strong March for Humanity across the Sydney Harbour Bridge in August 2025. It wasn’t until I reviewed my images in post-production that I found him there - in the thick of it as he so often is. His co...
