All engagement rings are lovely and beautiful! 😍 It's a privilege I get to see and admire so many and hear all your amazing engagement stories. And I love seeing how many Brides-to-be know exactly what they want and all the tells they were getting on the day of proposal.
Here's to seeing more stunning rings and couples cross my camera screen to yours this coming Spring and into Summer 2027 🥂

3 things I don't typically photograph: midday harsh light, dogs & birds. They were definitely things I started photographing 5-10 years ago (before making photography a job) so the chance to switch off work mode and just photograph at Centennial Park with x was so freeing!
Did I stick to my photo walk bingo card, probably no... 😆
Shot on Sony A7III and Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II
(a little different to my usual A7IV and zoom combo but still terrific)

These two fill me with butterflies because they had butterflies the whole shoot!
Mary and Michael were looking for a Western Sydney wedding and engagement photographer and once they stumbled across my work they fell in love with the real and raw emotions I capture. The journey between discovery and booking was pretty quick now that I think about it! And they decided to add on an engagement session to their wedding package (which I highly recommend and you'll see why in these photos!).
What unfolded for their engagement session was something I wasn't ready for...
These two had a severe case of the giggles.
Almost everything had them breaking out in laughter.
At first I thought it was cute.
Then I thought they were really good at quietly sharing private jokes (almost telepathically).
The giggles happened so much I didn't know if we would get any of the 'typical' engagement photos! 😆
But then, we talked about why the giggles naturally came out, I added more structure to their prompts and poses, and more encouragement, and we leaned into the laughter.
Laughter can be a natural remedy to breaking out of your comfort zone. And for them it was happening automatically.
And honestly what unfolded in this engagement session was more beautiful than any Pinterest board, because we let laughter naturally showcase the playful and loving side of their relationship.
If you're like these two giggle mates or are holding back from an engagement photoshoot because you don't think you'll fit perfectly into the typical engagement niches (there's so many I could make a research paper on it), then stuff the niches! Be you!
Because being real, being yourselves is better than pretending to be someone your note.
Book a consult in my bio to chat about how my engagement sessions can suit you, rather than how you can fit into a 'typical' engagement stereotype. Because you deserve to have high quality engagement photography reflects who you are.

Hey Siri, play 'Come Away with Me' by Norah Jones...
Sometimes the answer to switching off your anxieties during a photoshoot is to play music!
Every engagement session I ask couples if music will help them switch the mood and make them feel more comfortable. It's extra handy that I have a Spotify subscription and good cellular service when out on the farm too 😉
For Charlie and Andre , finding the right music for them helped us transition the mood away from still poses and closer towards prompts and actions more natural to them and their relationship. And towards the end of the session they had completely switched off the parts of their brain that said 'I need to look good for the camera!' and they relaxed in the moment and epic sunset instead.
If you're looking for more than just 'natural' engagement photos and actually want to 'feel' comfortable too, DM me and let's have a chat about your engagement session.
Cause who really wants just nice photos? You actually want good memories too.

Tiff and Ollie had a vision for night time portraits with flash and I was instantly on board. I'll be honest, I trusted in their vision so much that I took it on board without having done a shot like this before. I loved their vision. I loved their chemistry. I knew the pitch black night and ambient fairy lights would work a treat. But right up until we started photographing, I had imposter syndrome. Part of me knew I'd do everything to make the vision come to life, but part of me thought it'd be better if someone else was the photographer.
It's so hard to battle imposter syndrome when delivering this photography service to you. Over the years it's become a whetstone that forces me to sharpen my skills, my systems and my services.
And it's only today, as I send a bunch of photos from Tiff and Ollie's wedding to the printer, that I realise these night portraits were fire! And I can't wait to see them printed!

When you get older, look back on all the versions of yourself and your partner. You two won't be the exact same people, but that could be the best part of this wonderful adventure.
Cinematic stills from Charlie & Andre as they laugh, hug, joke and classically go for a piggyback ride.
