I’m so soo excited to share that I’ve again received a Gold Award in this year’s Birth Photographer of the Year Awards.

This image, First Milk, was captured in the first minutes of baby Adelaide learning to feed. Her arrival was super quick yet calm; the room was peaceful and Alannah and Sam were still taking in what had just happened. Adelaide lifted her eyes and locked onto her mama, knowing exactly who she was looking for. And what she needed. It was quiet, steady, and unforgettable.

Birth sessions are never about staged moments. They’re about noticing the small things parents don’t even realise are happening. The way hands reach for each other. The soft rush of relief once a baby cries. The way parents switch from instinct to tenderness in a single breath. Being invited into that space is such a privilege and this birth was one of those days where everything unfolded gently and beautifully.

A birth gallery becomes a keepsake from the day everything changed. The day you met your baby. The day you discovered a strength you didn’t know you had. It holds the way your partner showed up for you, the way you moved through each wave, and the moment your baby fit into your arms like they’d always belonged there. The day your family became whole.

Birth moves fast. The hours blur, the details slip away, and what you’re left with is a mix of adrenaline, calm and love. Birth Photography gives you a way back into that day with clarity instead of haze. Pride instead of doubt. And for many mothers, there’s a quiet kind of healing in seeing the story from the outside. You get to witness yourself the way everyone in the room saw you. Strong, vulnerable, powerful, loved.

Thank you to Alannah and Sam for inviting me into this moment. I’m incredibly proud of this image and grateful for the honour of documenting days like these.

❤️

🩷 It’s a girl! 🩷

Alannah’s second baby arrived and I got to capture the moment she first held her daughter. The first time she she locked eyes with the child she had being carrying for 9 months.

We call it the “I Did It” moment. That breathless second when you finally see the little person you’ve been carrying and every part of you knows… you did it!

These moments only happen once. Birth photography makes sure you can keep them forever.

Expecting? DM me and let’s make sure your story is captured too. I only take 2-3 births a month, so get in touch early to secure your spot. I’ll be there for the first breathe, the first embrace and the moment you realise… you did it!! ❤️

Birth isn’t just about bringing a baby into the world - it’s about the quiet strength, the grounded support, the hands held through contractions, and the whispered encouragements between surges. It’s about two people navigating the biggest moment of their lives together.

Birth photography is about honouring these moments, too. New blog coming soon ❤️

This might sound crazy…

…but I used natural methods like hypnobirthing, massage, and a TENS machine as pain relief during labour instead of an epidural. (That said - full disclosure - I did use gas, which is considered a less invasive, low-intervention option.)

I did eventually request the epidural (can you blame me?), but by that point, my baby was already well on his way, and there was just no time!

Looking back, I wouldn’t exactly say I ‘enjoyed’ the experience but I am proud because I felt fully connected to my body and instincts. I could move freely, work with each contraction, and although intense it also left me with a deep appreciation for my own strength. I would do it again.

Am I crazy? 😂 Who else didn’t use the epidural? Would you do the same again?
(PS: Zero judgment for anyone who took a different route - I’m just all about knowing your options!)

🌺 C.R.O.W.N.I.N.G.🌺

Crowning marks an extraordinary moment in childbirth, where a mother’s strength and perseverance shine brightest. It’s when the baby’s head becomes visible at the vaginal opening, signifying that birth is imminent. This phase, often called “the ring of fire” due to the intense stretching sensation, is a profound mix of pain and anticipation.

Not many mamas get to witness this incredible moment firsthand, yet it represents the culmination of their journey through labor. The baby’s head gradually emerging is a powerful testament to a woman’s resilience and grace, encapsulating the essence of creation and love. In a push or two, mother and child will reunite earth-side.

As the baby’s head appears, it’s a signal that the end of labor is near, bringing immense relief and joy. This sacred passage, filled with raw beauty and emotion, is a tribute to the incredible journey of motherhood.
