It finally happened, and in the most unexpected way with a photo that I absolutely LOVE!
I just won the "Amateur Photographer of the Year 2024" competition in the Action category, and my photo will be published in an English magazine next month!
The news hit like a gr***de, sending a new wave of adrenaline and a burning desire to keep pushing, learning, and improving straight into my brain. My ultimate goal remains to win the Australian Photographer of the Year, but for now, I’m taking a moment to truly enjoy this achievement. With a few tears of joy and a deeper awareness of my abilities, this is a new starting point, not a finish line.
You can find the description of the photo and the article’s translation in the comments. Follow me on Instagram .
A massive thank you to my partner in crime Stefania Rocca for all the “It’s terrible,” “Overexposed,” “Looks like someone threw up orange on the photo” (she really said this!!), “It’s crooked,” “It’s crap,” “It’s garbage,” “What does it even mean?”, and “It’s awful” comments. I would never have learned to see my photos through different eyes without those brutally honest critiques, and I wouldn’t have had the drive to improve if the reward for a good photo wasn’t seeing your beautiful, amazed eyes as you said, “It’s beautiful, I want it framed here.” You’ve been my inspiration.
And to Emanuele Baldassini, for the support he probably doesn’t even realize he’s given me, but without which I’d be lost right now.
Thank you.
