I met a monk in Cambodia 🇰🇭

As I made my way up the 300-step staircase towards the 11th-century Banan Temple in the west of Cambodia, I met a monk who was on his way back down the stairs.

I ask if I can take his photo. All I had on me was my iPhone, but that was more than enough thanks to the incredible light shining down from behind the temple.

An incredible moment where light, location and subject collide perfectly and spontaneously.

The moon, like you’ve never seen it before 🌕

This is what astronomers call a ‘Mineral Moon’ photograph, where the colours of the moon have been boosted to reveal the hidden chemical differences of the lunar soil. The red indicates high levels of iron and magnesium, while the dark blues and purples represent titanium.

I captured this from my backyard in Sydney, using a Canon ANZ R5 and EF500mm F4 IS II lens + a 2x teleconverter. I then processed the images through a complex technique of stacking 650 individual images into a single higher-detail frame, then applying sharpening, colour boosting and a blend of the stars visible behind the moon with a separate higher exposure.

Did you see the moon tonight? 🌕

It was stunning, and I was lucky to align it perfectly with the Sydney Opera House… along with about 20 other photographers! Always a great vibe when shooting with other though! It was a great time down at Hickson Road Reserve.
