Happy 7th anniversary to one of the strongest, bravest, coolest, kindest, most determined, and funnest couples we’ve had the honour of meeting and photographing ❤️
I wrote to Benish as I was editing their anniversary adventure session, tearing up because I’m sappy like that, “We photograph a lot of couples just starting out on their journey but getting to witness how beautiful the love between you two is after seven years married plus all the mountains you've climbed along the way together is just next level! It makes my heart burst!” 💕

As cheesy as this little touristy “smile at the camera” pic is, it cracks me up because it was raining and Juwan set up the shot, put the 10-second timer on, pressed the shutter button, then bolted to try and climb up and get into position but he stacked it on the way in front of all these people watching and he still picked himself up and jumped into the frame just in time and everyone laughed and cheered for him 😂

A few weeks ago, we went adventuring with Keely and Aiden, two of the most free-spirited and open-hearted souls who are passionate about getting outdoors and being in nature as much as possible. 🌿

Aids is awesome but I just want to talk about Kee for a second. One thing that really stood out to me was how Kee made sure to say hello to every single person she passed on the trail, sometimes stopping for a longer chat about their plans and what they’d seen, and helping them find their way safely. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, like they belonged there, no matter who they were. It was so refreshing and beautiful to witness that especially when the outdoor space is often portrayed as a place for men or for thin white influencers. But it’s for everyone to explore, appreciate, look after, and learn from. Ever since that day, I’ve made an effort to say hello to everyone we pass on our travels because I just want everyone to feel, in the words of Brené Brown, “nobody belongs here more than you.” Thank you for teaching me, Kee ❤️

It’s been raining for the past few days and while that usually would be a bit disappointing on a coastal road trip, the misty mountains and forests have more than made up for it! 🌲⛰

The sun is peeking out now as we drive to our next destination and we just spotted a lady selling mangoes on the side of the road so it’s shaping up to be a pretty darn fantastic day. ☀️🥭

Last night, Juwan came into the lounge room of the little unit we’re staying in and scooped me up in a big hug and a kiss.
“What was that for?”
“I saw that you hung up my jacket for me, you cutie pie” 😭😍
At first I was going to make a joke about his low expectations of me, but then I realised how much I absolutely adore his grateful heart. He teaches me daily how to love, how to cherish, how to protect and how to appreciate. Thank you, George Juwan 😘❤️

A lot of people I’ve talked to have felt super guilty about how upset they’ve been at having to cancel travel plans when there are “bigger problems” in the world but it is tootally okay and valid to be disappointed in not getting to live your dreams for 2020. So many people have had self-discovery expeditions, destinations weddings, honeymoons, business trips, family reunions, and other overseas or interstate adventures all cancelled and it absolutely stinks. So let yourself feel whatever you need to feel! Pretty sure I cried more than once about missing our USA trip earlier this year 🙈 The one positive (besides obv the big one of saving lives) is that it’s encouraging us to stay local and fall more in love with where we live 🧡

We’re currently planning a late September/October road trip to visit a bit more of our beautiful state - probably heading south at this stage. Drop your recs in the comments for places to explore ☀️ Bonus points if you want us to come capture your love there! 💕

This morning one of my preschoolers told me excitedly, “Sariah!! Today I ate my own breakfast, all of it, and I brushed my teeth by myself and I carried my own bag!!!!!” and as I remarked how independent she was growing, I thought back on my own morning where Juwan had woken me up, made my breakfast, packed my lunch, and carried my bag to the car 😅 I did brush my own teeth, though, so surely that counts for something 🙈❤️
