A day late for World Ocean Day, but our relationship with the ocean doesn’t begin and end with a date on the calendar.

This moment was captured of me in Kona, Hawaii, while out on the water with my incredible friends at , photographed by the talented .mems 📸

One thing I’ve come to appreciate more and more as I experience the ocean through eco companies around the world, is the role responsible ocean tourism can play in conservation. When done well, respecting the animal first and allowing them to come to you- it creates connection. And people protect what they feel connected to.

Many of us will never become marine biologists, researchers, or conservationists, but we might spend a few hours on a boat, hear a story about a species we’ve never thought about before, or experience a wild encounter that stays with us for the rest of our lives.

Sometimes that’s where it starts.

A little more curiosity.
A little more understanding.
A little more reason to care.

The ocean has given me some of the most unforgettable moments of my life. If responsible tourism helps more people fall in love with it too, that’s a pretty powerful thing. 🌊

So, how are you gonna spend your life?

Best few days crossing the calmest seas I've seen in a long time. Pods of dolphins, whales sightings, a visit by a devil ray, sunrises, sunsets, steering under the stars, healthy meals, a few little sailing sessions when the wind momentarily picked up, playtime with all our cameras onboard, midday swim breaks in glass like ocean conditions and sleepless nights taking turns to be on watch. Tired, but too busy living to really care.

Freedivers… do you agree?

Yes, depth is exciting. Reaching a new PB feels incredibly rewarding. The adventure is exciting 🫠 (yet somehow also deeply calming haha)- It’s hard to put into words.

But it’s not the only reason I keep coming back.

I love how curious freedivers are. I have a fair share of excited-about-life-energy in me, and in the ocean it’s like we all become kids again.

Recently at , a group of us spotted some fish drifting by during a training session. Everyone immediately stopped what they were doing just to watch with awe. The excitement I felt in that little moment was reflected by everyone around me, and I think that’s something really special.

That genuine fascination with the underwater world.

That deep care for the ocean.

The friendships formed in the water are unmatched too. I’ve met two of my closest friends through freediving, and so many other incredible people along the way.

Maybe that’s why so many freedivers end up becoming advocates for the ocean. We love to give something back to the ecosystems that give us so much.

Somehow, the ocean keeps bringing together the right people.

And while I still absolutely love the depth, the adventure, and seeing what I’m capable of…

It’s the people, the curiosity, and the connection to the ocean that keep me coming back. 🌊

A few nostalgic black and white edits to capture that "back in the good old days feeling" from a couple of our midday swim breaks. Nights during the crossing were cold and in between night shifts we were only sleeping in 2-3 h blocks whenever we got a chance. We were tired- But oh how we felt so alive- we watched sunsets and sunrises, steered under the stars, and saw at least 10 pods of dolphins, two whale sightings and a devil ray gently cruising by... Most of our days the conditions looked like this- even when we had no land in sight- glass like waters, the sea reflecting the sky perfectly, we were able to notice every little marine life breech in a distance. we knew we were living in a memory right in this moment ✨ hope you enjoy this little collection of photos. Motor off for just a little while, safety rope in the water and one after the other hopping in to refresh in the sea and having a play with all our different cameras onboard.

I was able to get some amazing drone shots for the new owner too (that is yet to lay eyes on his new vessel)

There can be so much noise at the surface 🫠 But- during your deep dive, all that matters is your mind. How would you entertain your thoughts during a deep dive?

Had so much fun training in Tenerife this past week. Returned to close to my PB depth twice, and one day I didn't l like diving deep but then unexpectedly dived to 40m on FRC on an open line (frc pb) This main video: returning to the surface from 56 meters 🤿

Training with - was so impressed by their setup and coolest team, already excited to return

A few captures from exploring Tenerife- .jpeg 📸 part 1

I must admit, my first impression of Tenerife was that it felt a bit touristy. But I quickly learned there are so many layers to this island. Besides Tenerife being an AMAZING hub for freedive training (all year round) there really is so much to see and explore (I know, shocking, beyond that very exciting line taking you to depths haha - I do love that too🤿 🌊 )

If you want less people around, Anaga forest was one of my favourite destinations to visit (thanks for the tip to visit this area & for pointing out an amazing hike here)

Benijo beach was breathtaking, Masca is a must-see-at-least-once kind of a place, and there were plenty of cute coastal towns, natural swimming pools, and areas to enjoy. I definitely only scratched the surface of adventures here, I didn't even make it up to the volcano summer Teide... unfortunately my last minute life decisions didn't quite line up with pre-buying tickets 🫠 but- here's a few beautiful places on the island. Part 2 coming soon
