Was it really December 2014 when The Datsuns last played in Sydney?! Their long awaited return was warmly met by a crowd keen-as-faark to finally see them again (or to get to see them for the first time) at Crowbar Sydney

Featuring original members vocalist/bassist Dolf de Burst (also the bassplayer for The Hellacopters since 2018), guitarists Christian Livingstone and Phil Somervell, plus drummer Adam Lindmark (Dead Lord, Harrowed) from Stockholm, they were in flawless form. Hopefully they return to Australia a little sooner next time🤘🤞🔥🤘

Australia’s favourite beer-fuelled legends the Cosmic Psychos played the final show on their ridiculous 42 date national tour last night, in celebration of their twelfth studio album, I Really Like Beer 🤘🍺 😵‍💫 🍺 🤘

The first leg featured none other than Dan Peters (Mudhoney & Nirvana) on drums. These photos were shot for Loud Online during that leg, at UOW: University of Wollongong, Australia

The second leg featured that young whippersnapper BC Michaels from DUNE RATS behind the kit.

But thankfully there's a few more chances to see the Psychos coming up very soon, post tour, including:

Italian gothic metal titans Lacuna Coil
are currently touring Australia via Destroy All Lines Which made me think of the time I did a photoshoot with them for a music mag onsite at Wacken Open Air metal fest in Germany back in 2007.

A video of their set at the festival featured on their first live DVD, Visual Karma (Body, Mind and Soul). That year Wacken also featured Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, In Flames, Immortal, Saxon, Type O Negative, Cannibal Co**se, Dimmu Borgir, Turbonegro, Municipal Waste, Na**lm Death, Turisas & loads more.

I was lucky enough to get the chance to shoot the festival plus do some photoshoots with In Flames, Turbonegro (that lasted all of 2 minutes, it was just before they were about to hit the stage), Na**lm Death, Turisas and Municipal Waste (which happened in the massive media/VIP area, sometime after midnight, once they'd finished playing, drinking beer and watching a bunch of other bands). Good times! 🤘📷🤘

I've been shooting bands for decades and one of my favourite things is discovering new talented bands and capturing them live. 

- a young band from Coffs Harbour - did that for me in 2025. I photographed them at last month, opening for Grinspoon and You Am I. 

They've got a bunch of shows coming up in Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle & Brisbane this month, including some supports with You Am I and Wheatus.
