Seriously though....what is sleep? 🤣

Four years ago, I lost my mum. I still remember walking back from my car, meeting my dad in the hallway and hearing the words, “Your mum has passed.” We had spent five weeks going back and forth to palliative care, so we knew it was coming, but nothing prepares you for having someone you love here one minute and gone the next.

The grief was incredibly heavy, but looking back now, I feel more grateful than sad. Grateful for the life I have, for the people around me, and especially for the business I’ve built through photography.

There were days when I could barely get out of bed, but I still picked up my camera and showed up for my clients. Photography gave me something to keep moving towards. And every time someone trusts me to photograph their family, their connection, their memories or a moment in their life, I think about how much my mum believed in me. This business exists because she believed I could do it, and I will always carry that with me.

I understand that Instagram is important for any business, but four years of perspective has taught me that life offline is just as important. Maybe more. There is so much more to life than what we post, how often we show up, how many people are watching or how things look on a screen.

Because when you experience someone you love being here one minute and gone the next, you realise just how precious the ordinary moments really are.

The photographs I take are about those moments. The hugs, the laughs, the little things we think we’ll always have. Because sometimes, a photograph becomes one of the things we have left.

So four years on, I’m not writing this from a place of sadness. I’m writing it from a place of gratitude. For my mum. For my business. For the people who continue to trust me with their memories. And for the life I get to live, both behind the camera and away from the screen.

I’m still here. Still creating. Still photographing life. And incredibly grateful that I get to do it.

And Mum, I hope you know how deeply I love you. I always have, and I always will. 🤍
