BENEATH THE SURFACE UNVEILS JULY ISSUE
FLESHCRAWL - FORGED IN FLESH. DRIVEN BY CARNAGE

Continuing the momentum of previous editions, Issue 6 of Beneath The Surface reinforces our commitment to the underground metal community while celebrating the authenticity of the scene, both locally and internationally.

"The Epitome Of Underground Death Metal"

We are honoured to feature German death metal veterans Fleshcrawl, a band that has spent more than four decades defining the European underground while remaining fiercely independent and uncompromising in their vision.

Following the release of their tenth studio album, Epitome of Carnage via Distortion Music Group, Fleshcrawl reflects on longevity, creative evolution, their revitalised lineup, and why the underground continues to thrive through the people who refuse to let it die.

As one of Germany's most respected death metal acts, Fleshcrawl demonstrates that true legacy isn't built by chasing trendsโ€”it's earned through authenticity, consistency, and an uncompromising commitment to the music.

Also featured in this issue:
Dark Indication
Agarwaen (Over The Border Records)
Complexant (Bleeding Art Collective / Blood Blast Distribution)
Space Parasites (Fetzner Death Records)
Emerge
Frankenbok

Issue 6 also welcomes guest photographer Sonja Rodriguez (), whose striking photography brings an authentic visual identity to the Fleshcrawl feature. Sonja also contributes to the debut of our new Euro Recap segment, taking readers inside Sick Midsummer 2026โ€”the festival's final edition. Through her lens, readers experience one of Europe's celebrated underground festivals and the atmosphere that made it so memorable.

Issue 6 is available now in digital format through FlippingBook via the Headbangers Australia website.

"BENEATH THE SURFACE" UNVEILS ISSUE V
DEVILDRIVER - BACK TO START: REIGNITING THE FIRE TO STRIKE AND KILL

Reaching a fifth consecutive issue marks an important milestone for the publication. Built through the dedication of our writers, photographers, contributors, and creative crew, Issue 5 represents the continued growth of Beneath The Surface and our commitment to giving the metal community a stronger voice as one.

"Back To Start: Hope Is Never Wasted"

We are honoured to feature internationally acclaimed metal act DevilDriver as the cover story for Issue 5.

For more than two decades, DevilDriver have carved out their own lane in heavy music, fusing crushing Cali groove, melodic aggression, and a fearless refusal to follow the rules while remaining true to the spirit of the band. Now, more than ever, with their explosive eleventh studio album Strike and Kill set for release on July 10 via Na**lm Records, and a massive Australian co-headline tour alongside Cradle of Filth on the horizon, DevilDriver continue to push forward with the same passion and intensity that has defined their career.

Camille Colelough had the honour of spending time with the man at the heart of it all, Dez Fafara, one of metal's most inspirational, uncompromising, and respected frontmen. Together they discuss life, reigniting creative fire, and what it truly means to go back to the start.

Also featured in this issue:
Green Carnation (Season of Mist)
Tarja (earMUSIC)
Devil Electric
Rexoria (Black Lodge Records)
Nox Terror
Hence Confetti

This issue also includes:
Album Reviews and Album of the Month
Gig Recaps and Guides
Tour Recaps and Guides
The Vault

Issue 5 also shines a spotlight on the strength of the Australian metal community through our dedicated Sydney Dethfest Special Coverage. Captured by our in-house photography team and supported by our editorial crew, this feature celebrates the bands, fans, photographers, and promoters who continue to keep the underground thriving.

Without the passion and dedication of our contributors, there would be no Beneath The Surface. Issue 5 stands as a celebration of the people behind the publication and the community that continues to support it.

Issue 5 is available now in digital format at headbangersaustralia.com.
