Random roadside stops. . .
We all love them! We were traveling down the Tasman Peninsula back in April, on the way to some locations we’d planned on visiting, but we turned around a corner and this view popped up in front of us! THIS VIEW!!! I just had to stop and take photos! The colour of that water under a blue sky was something else! Problem was (as it usually is when you see an amazing scene 🙄), there was nowhere to pull over and it was a curved road. So we put Plan B into action - hubby dropped me off quickly, waited further down the road and I called him when I was done taking photos, to come back to pick me up 😄
Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do to get the shots!

The beauty of Last Light ✨🩷
I took these photos just as the last of the afternoon light was fading, wrapping everyone a soft golden hue, the last warm rays touching the delicate flowers. . . Just moments later they were in complete shade. Timing!! 🫶🏻

Father’s Day. . .
Did you know that, although humpback whales are very social creatures, the family unit so to speak, doesn’t actually exist?!! A male will breed with a female and be on his way! He has no fatherly responsibilities! A calf will stay with its’s mum for about 2-3 years and then begin its solo life. I often wonder if they ever cross paths again after that, and if they’d recognise each other if they did! Or how many male whales out there have fathered and unbeknowingly ever come across their own offspring again. . . Nature can be intriguing at times and I have random thoughts!

I often think, that during a mugging, when a humpback whale displays this behaviour of rolling on their back, belly-up ‘star-fishing’, that it not only shows how super relaxed they are, but also how trusting. I truly believe that it’s them showing submission to us - just like a puppy would for a belly-rub. It’s a submissive behaviour, relaxed, comfortable and confident in our presence, full of trust. It’s a giving-in to us, an ‘I want to play’, a ‘take me, I’m yours!’
It’s just so beautiful! Considering that we almost hunted them to the brink of extinction, for them now to be so trusting of us and wanting to interact with us, still blows my mind and tugs at my heart every time I see it 🩵

Before winter is officially over, let me share some snowy beauty!
It was actually still autumn when there was a cold snap in Tasmania in April while we were visiting, causing a light dumping of snow on Mt Wellington one afternoon! We went up to check it out. . .
That day it was about 3* with a ‘feels like’ temp of -11 🥶 I couldn’t feel my face or my fingers but adrenaline was high and it was incredibly beautiful!❄️❄️❄️
