This is definitely one of my favourite birds from the Old World! This beautiful boy decided to stand out singing his heart out in front of me for several minutes when I visited the northern Sweden last summer!

Pheasants are fascinating birds. The power of sexual selection has made males of this group particularly stunning. Most of pheasant species are concentrated in East Asia where they were traditionally hunted for food. Some species have been exported overseas as game birds as well. Why did we decide to shoot them for fun instead of appreciating their beauty?

This is one of my all time favourite. It is amazingly colourful and surprisingly intelligent. The bird is generally common in the mountain ranges of eastern Asia and the northern part of the Indian continent.

One of the coolest experiences of going to the outback of Australia is to see amazing birdlife. This beautiful bird chases little bugs on the ground like a plover, but also hawks flying insects like a swallow in the air.

Welcome to my page! As the official launch, I choose this stunning Sword-billed Hummingbird as my first post because this weird-looking species has been always one of my biggest obsessions ever since I watched David Attenborough's Life of Birds. The unique ecological niche it takes and bizarre evolutionary features have made this bird sitting on the top of my to-see list during my Colombia visit earlier this year.
